Who Will be Tanking for Gavin Mckenna in 2025 2026

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

This offseason is going to be so interesting with a major cap increase and a very talented draft approaching.

RE: Pittsburgh: I also have a shitty feeling McKenna will end up there because reasons. But if Sid is around, I don't know how they're the worst team in the league.
They have Sid now and they're still tied for 6th worst p% in the league. They'll continue selling and an already ancient core will be a year older. Could very well be the worst team next year even with Crosby.

Buffalo, San Jose and Chicago have already started :p

Buffalo started 14 years ago :p. Very dedicated.
I don't know about SJ and Chi planning on being bottom 3 bad to start 25/26 season. I mean, can either GM survive a bottom 3 finish? SJ was like 1 point out of bottom 3 in 23 draft. Worst in 24, bottom 2 in 25 right now. Does the HC survive to year 3 if the Sharks are that bad in 25/26?

Can ask the same of Davidson and the Hawks. Fired Richardson, so what are the expectations on the next full time HC?

Buffalo, Adams will be gone if that occurs IMO. I don't think he can chance it.

I think he would be a great fit in Anaheim to get them a 1-2 punch with McKenna and Carlsson.

Team that would need him the most would probably be Nashville.

Oh, will be gifted to Pittsburgh for sure. It's been like 20 years since they got a generational talent. I expect Mario to say he will move the team to Siberia unless they are gifted numerous 1st/2nd OA picks.
Mario doesn't even have a controlling interest in the team anymore. The team has been managed by Fenway Sports Group since 2021...

This blatant inaccuracy aside, is your actual stance here that the NHL will completely falsify the NHL draft (and somehow keep it under wraps so that no one will ever be able to call them out) and then specifically choose which team will get the #1 pick, and that they would give it to one of the smallest markets in the NHL?

Sharks were shit, then they moved their starting goalie, second best forward, third best dman, and fifth/sixth best forward. I have no doubt Grier will be aggressive- he’s stated Dallas/Edmonton 1sts will be on the block. But there’s still a real chance that our top 4 includes Ferraro, Liljigren, and Muk. If Askarog can give average starter performance that’d be a huge win, but it’s still a shit defense, and we’ll need a backup.

Getting out of the bottom 3 will require SJ to acquire two top 4 dmen, a top 6 forward, a top 9 forward, and a good backup goalie.

My hunch is Grier doesn’t make the Zetterlund and Walman moves if he’s been told by Plattner he need to improve next year. I think we’ve got one more tough year ahead. As long as we’re on the upswing when Celebrini’s ELC is up in two years, it’ll be fine.

Their competition will be Chicago (who will also invest heavily), Buffalo, Seattle, and Philly. NYI, Boston, St. Louis Nashville, and Pitt also have dark horse potential, but I think Chicago, San Jose, and Seattle will be the bottom 3. Even if Chicago and San Jose were bottom 2 locks, the field of 3-11 has a higher likelihood of getting McKenna. It’s anybodies game!

If you’re a conspiracy theorist, Boston has to be the destination. Big market, original 6, 20 years of strong performance finally on the downswing. It’s a no brainer!

We should be pretty awful next year.. I imagine we see some guys moved in the off season such as Andersson. To have Mckenna, Parekh and Wolf for the future a guy can dream... then add in the hometown kid Dupont the following year we'll be rolling.
There's too much decent to good vet leadership on that team to let it happen.

I’ve already accepted he will be a Penguin

I should probably get on board with this mentally as well. It's the screaming choice.

I will leave a sliver of hope that he lands in Buffalo. Surely they will continue to "try hard" but the mix of players is just not working and they will be bottom 5 next year, which, gives them a chance.

Deep down we all know what's going to happen

McKenna, you are a Pittsburgh Penguins!
The Pens haven't gotten two generational players in 2 decades, it's disgusting how mistreated they are by the NHL, forget the draft they should just get McKenna for their suffering (haven't won a cup in nearly a decade either).
