Who Will be Our New Captain?

I would rather not do the 3 A's again. If he re-signs, Girardi. Staal has some contract issues to be worked out & we shouldn't have to go through his again in less than a year. I hope Av doesn't try to force it on Lundqvist like he did too Luongo.

Staal, Girardi, and McD... I wonder if a team has had all three captains on defense.
 
They're gonna give it to Staal, which I think is ridiculous. It's naive to think jetting to Carolina in a couple years isn't a very real possibility.

I think it should be McDonagh, but for whatever reason the team has given no indication of doing that.
 
I think it should be done like after the lockout... rock the 3 A's and who starts to separate themselves from the pack in terms of leadership should be awarded the C.

to start:
A- Staal
A- Girardi
A- Richards

In the future I could see Stepan, McD, Kreider, Zuke all being named A's
 
keep in mind nash wore an a earlier this season and captained the blue jackets. i don't think we can rule him out.

.......... So you would want a goon to be the captain? Because goons fight goons... I want someone who is respected and a true leader on the team. Girardi would be fine in my opinion because he plays hard and gives up his body to do things like block shots mind you after all that he gets up and rarely misses a shift.

This season, if Cally is traded I could see this, absolutely.

Next next Richards will most likely be gone. I think a lot of us would love McDonagh as captain and I strongly believe his time will come for sure. He's our future.

I could see

Staal - C
Girardi (if resigned) - A
Nash - A
 
Staal has been my favorite player for a long time now and I would love for him to get the "C". If Callahan is gone though I would realistically see Girardi getting the captaincy with Staal and Richards keeping the A's. If Richards is bought out in the off-season, I would think his "A" goes to McDonagh.

Does anybody think that Staal's UFA status may have any bearing on him getting the "C"? It's an aspect of the situation that I think may have more of a role than we anticipate.

I would prefer to not have Nash have a letter, I think its mostly because I like the hometown guys getting the A's and C's but I guess if he continues this play then it wouldn't hurt
 
Heart says Zucc, Logic and reason and less insanity says Staal for Captain. Girardi and Stepan with the A.

There is no way I want Nash with any kind of letter all the time his only tangible contribution is attempting to glide backwards through the D every single time he has the puck. Goals excluded.

Yes his UFA status has to come in to play.

Like Girardi hasn't sacrificed every inch of his body for this team? I vote Girardi if he's signed. Good personality, leads on the ice, seems like a good locker-room guy.
