Well, what is a 1st line wing, then? What some poster arbitrarily thinks it is? Are there only 30 1st line wings? 40? Who decides?
Kings need to stay the course. PLD isn’t as bad as he showed this year and you still have Danault, Kopitar & Byfield as C options. See what Clarke brings to the table. Wouldn’t surprise me one bit if LA contends in the Pacific next year. They just need to add a goalie.
You might be right that PLD will get better, but that's a pretty low bar. I also think that Doughty is going to have a natural decline due to age - you can't expect him to play almost 26 minutes/night yet again, so someone else, Clarke, or whomever, needs to step up.
Byfield has been playing W, i think? Would be nice if he really starts to take off... he's been good, but I still think that there is potential to be a lot better.
Overall, i agree with what you said, but the young players need to take over the team. Acquiring PLD was a massive misstep, and one they will be paying for for years. It's not like there weren't signs of him being an iffy player before this in his previous stops.
It's kind of crazy how that draft year went with Laine, Pulju, and PLD being so highly regarded, then either failing to deliver or regressing like mad.

By mathematics, a 1st line winger must be able to score 30+ goals if we take into account most coaches opinion that the game is a race to reach 3 goals.
To make the playoff you need to win at least 50 games, so we need 150 goals.
Two 1st line winger = 60
Two 2nd line winger = 50 (25 goals each)
Two top 6 centers =40 (20 goals each)
This of course is the bare minimum to make the playoff if you have a competent 3rd line you usually do better

Strange time to miss a team meeting after getting benched in the previous game. Did he do it on purpose? Certainly looks like there's more to that story. As a result, Fiala got scratched and LA lost vs SJ.
If I had to guess, it's very much Hiller or Fiala now. At least one of them has to go if you're the Kings.
It's not the first time Fiala has these sort of problems. He's a nice guy and not a bad kid but definitely cocky with quite the attitude. Must be a tough one to coach and unless Hiller is on the hot seat himself I wonder if Fiala is on his way out of yet another NHL franchise.

Surely won’t stop a sect of Wild fans claiming they know better than others when Fiala continues to prove Guerin right when he decided this is not a player you build around. Even when that trade likely will net them someone who has a great chance to be the best player to wear a Wild sweater to this point outside of the guy currently wearing 97. That’s coming from someone who doesn’t love how Guerin has built this team but of his decisions he’s made, this is at or near the top.

Which is too bad but is something that was plain to see if you have been actually paying attention and not dreaming of what could be.

This is gonna be a very interesting story to follow because with Doughty out, Fiala is the highest paid Kings player with a full NMC and a contract running until 2029. He's also proven to be able to score ppg in the NHL.
Not a good problem to have for Hiller and the Kings.

As much as this Kings fan likes Brady, Ottawa doesn’t do that and the Kings aren’t in any position to trade Spence and a 1st/Greentree.
