Yes, yes, I know, an NHL player for Arizona. Yes, I/we can Google him. Yes, east coast ignorance. But from his stats, how is he in the league? I thought we'd finally gotten rid of the useless goons league-wide. This guy plays every game, averages less than 10 minutes, provides nearly zero offense, and has literally almost double the penalty minutes of all but 10 other players in the league. Plus his name is like an NHL player made up by AI. Arizona isn't a joke (on the ice) any more, so why is he in the league?

Because he adds intensity and grit in a league that desperately needs it. But I suppose you want some super soft J Lauko - O Steen players in the forth line, making zero impression in an endless 82 run of the mill game season.

Teams getting beaten 0-5 at home and no one shows any kind of emotion.

He's only got one point less than the skilled Lukas Reichel, so there's that.

And I don't mean to crap on Reichel. I know he's talented and has upside. Just saying.

Jlauko O'Steen sounds like O'Brien's neighbor from the same village in County Clare.

He is not a good fighter, not high IQ, takes bad penalties often but...plays with a lot of passion. He is also not entirely useless and will flash skills on occasion.

He is a Coyote because the enforcer role is still necessary in the NHL and this role would default to Crouse or McBain and better to have O'Brien in the box for 5 than either of those two.

I don’t think you know who Lauko is.

He's a television sportscaster currently working as a host for Apple TV's MLS Season Pass as well as TNT's NHL Studio.

Saw him regularly for five years in Hershey, this is about the most bang-on description possible of Obie, lol.

Probably one of the least capable "enforcers" I've seen fighting-wise but he developed into a decent middle-six energy type in the AHL over time which probably helped his chances to make it to the bigs. I am honestly surprised he became a regular NHLer, but glad for him all the same.

If he can skate and willing to play physical, and drop the gloves when needed, he brings energy to the team.

Coyotes are playing well, and I bet the players love him.
