Well I disagree, I think Lapierre has the smoother hands and better instincts. Jarvis does have a far superior shot though.

Jarvis is a better skater, better shooter and better puck carrier. His hands are pretty damn good, I'd say among the best in the class in tight. Hes like a slightly slower Ehlers with better finish. I think a lot of teams are going to look back and wonder why they passed on Jarvis, just like they do with Nik.

I disagree about puck carrying, there are few who are better at attacking the line with the puck then Henrique imo. But that's the good thing about discussing this, everyone sees things differently and it makes for interesting conversations. FTR I would be fine with Jarvis but I think we need the impact center more.

I wonder which way the Jets go if they get to 10 and it's a choice between Holtz, Quinn, Jarvis and Mercer. Or Lapierre. The Jets have drafted 2 players from the Q in 9 years by my count. And one of them, Ehlers, they wanted on the team instead of in the Q, because they didn't like the development that the league brought, with more run and gun, and less structure.

Jarvis is a pretty big tool of Portland offense and he pretty much carries the puck at all times. He plays a similar style game to Kane. You just get him the puck and let him do the rest. I don't think he will have as big of an impact as Kane at the NHL level. But he could easily be as efficient as Ehlers at driving play.

I am pretty familiar with him so you don't need to sell me on him. I think he will be a very good player.

Are you sure about that or was he just too good to stay there?

They have drafted 4 players from the Q:

Ehlers, Gawanke, Green, Kostelk

I don't think its their favorite league but they will draft from it if the player is on their list.

Thanks I forgot about Gawanke and Green. And yes I remember Chevy or someone in the organization saying that they were not top fond of having him play another year in the Q, because of the development angle. His first year was tough. He did well with Scheif-Wheeler (who doesn't) but he had an extended scoring drought. And playing with Burmistrov probably didn't help.

Yeah I remember that as well, I just took it as he was too good for the Q and they didn't want him developing bad habits as he could essentially skate around everyone there by that point.

They did similarly with Conner in University of Michigan, took him out after he dominated one year as he was too good for the league.

He was a center in junior as far as I know.

Probably no different then Tampas winger group. It's not about how small you are it's about how small you play.
Tampa's small wingers play a much more aggressive game on the boards and in the areas around the net than the Jets' smaller forwards.

Jarvis is intriguing.
I haven’t followed him much but that’s a huge jump in points this year. Can someone explain why his stats were just so so in 2018-19?

Little played a pretty aggressive game along the boards. Ehlers battles pretty well and he can cycle decently. That's the thing about the best lines. They cycle well. You can never just rely entirely on rushing up the ice and scoring. You have to be able to do both effectively.

Yup, which is why I find our focus on purely the cycle annoying. We have no real set plays off the rush and don't attack in layers all that well. I think this team cycles well enough when they are able to get set up in the offensive zone. I feel the teams biggest issue lately is actually being able to get the puck with control in the offensive zone to even start a cycle to begin with. How soon we forget that we had the best cycle driven offense in the league in 17-18. Its why we need a couple more players who excel with the puck on their stick in the nz and can gain the zone with control. We don't have near enough of that atm.

Enter: Seth Jarvis.

If the published prospect ratings have any meaning, then it probably wouldn't be Jarvis, as he's rated between 11th and 29th according to 6 sources. But....that was probably similar to Scheifele's ratings

Yeah he's all over the map. Some love his game and others aren't super high on it. I have him at 9 on my list.

Hometown kid, it would be great to see the Jets go in that direction. Him and Ehlers together on the wing could be exciting to watch. I still think that Quinn kid has the shot that is something most of this year's top picks don't. I could see him fitting in perfectly with Scheifele. Because he can also pass as well.

So Laine to FLA for Ekblad and their first...draft Jarvis and Quinn....
