I like Mahoney a lot. But I don't know if his skills would translate as a GM. I wouldn't pick the last great years of Ovechkin's career to experiment.

Just like our recent coaches, mega offense to mega defense, to mega lord knows what - we move from rookie coaches to a guy with 16 years experience.
Of course, Trotz was a scout for Washington and coached our AHL affiliate the Skipjacks, so that all important tie to Washington is met.
