Alright you crazy, hockey obsessed animals...who should the Habs target for their 2nd center? With news coming out about Dylan Larkin asking for a trade, it's starting to make things interesting. For some of you that like to color outside the lines, feel free to let us know who you'd prefer if he's not in the options.

If they were equally priced:

1. Thomas
2. Hischier
3. D-Boss
4. Wait for McDavid

Larkin has no-trade clause, so maybe he could force a relatively cheap trade?

If their asking price is through the roof, might as well trade for McDavid.

Hischier or Larkin would be the top two targets, with a preference to Hischier. Both slot in perfectly as they are left handed, good defensively, can win faceoffs and aren't afraid to shoot the puck which would fit well with a passer like Demidov.

Feel like they'd also cost less than Thomas given Larkin asked for a trade and Hischier is a year away from being a UFA.

This is a difficult question to answer without knowing the cost of each player. They all have pros and cons.

The ask in return will determine much of that. But if it's relatively even. I like Thomas

Out of the three, I personally think Thomas will cost the most, followed by Larkin and the least expensive will be Hischier I think...but they will all cost a few premium assets.

Thomas- (young, signed to another 4 years at affordable contract)

Larkin- (older, but also signed for another 4 years at affordable contract)

Hischier- (young, but only signed one more year. Would have to be a trade and sign a little like Dobson)

It's highly probable that none of those guys are available (except for Larkin who apparently asked for a trade?). NYI just drafted Schaefer, Eklund, Aitcheson and Eiserman and they'll draft relatively high again this year they wont trade their vet 1st line center and potential new captain like that with a wave of young players incoming.

i dont want either, but when we putting a vote, and them being available, they are an option

I just don't think Hughes would be interested in them...especially Trochek as he's turning 33 in July, but who knows. Also, McTavish was bouncing between center and wing this season as he's not the best on faceoffs. Something about him scares me a la "Dach"...he hasn't improved much in his 4 years in the NHL.

We have plenty of time before Michael Haj wakes up

I dont think either of these guys are the ideal fit. But if I had to pick one out of Thomas, Larkin, and hischier, it would be hischier.

He's the most defensively responsible imo, and the best faceoff guy to go along with his offensive.

However, I think the player also needs alot of jam for the habs top 6, and thats the area where I dont feel completely satisfied with these options.

So who in your mind is that player?

I don't think Thomas is getting trade so I'm not including him.

So here's my preference in order;

1-Hischier
2-Larkin
3-Barzal

4-McTavish

Another guy that might be available is Robertson but the cost of the trade must be through the roof.
