The end of the regular season is getting close. Which player do you find most disappointing this season, out from your expectations ?

To clarify;

Did you pre-season think that Richards was going to be a stud 1C and score +90, and now feel like that is not happening= disappointment.

Did you pre-season want to trade Boyle for a bag of pucks and still feel the same=not disappointment. ;)

There have been several, and I don't want to be accused of always ripping on Nash, but even with his empty netter tonight, he'll be lucky to reach 40 points this season. That's about 2M for every 10 points.

Nash definitely is up there imo, but the early injury can somehow explain his mediocre season.

But to me I think Stepan is the biggest disappointment, not because he's been really bad or anything, but I really did expect him to take his game to the next level this season, to me it looks more like he's taken one step back. He hasn't been producing at the same rate as last season and looking somehow weaker with the puck. His line has been very up and down, not all his fault of course, but he is a part of it. He hasn't been showing those flashes, indicating that he's on his way to become a "true" 1C , something that at least I think that he has the capacity to become and something that was more showing last season.

That isnt even up for discussion. comparing to what he is supposed to bring, our allstar, Rick Nash has been a shell of himself

Nash though Richards season has been overrated almost since the beginning. I think his lack of pace more than anything is why St. Louis and he did not work out. The Rangers absolutely need to buy Richards out. Stepan struggled a lot up and until the Olympics--since then he's been very good.

Nash and Stepan. I went with Stepan though because he held out for money then didn't respond by at least keeping his game where it was last season. I really thought he would be on another level this season. Hope he comes back stronger next season.

Nash at least had some injuries which can partially explain why his game has gotten more tentative.

Stepan, easily... after last years season I think EVERYONE thought he was going to be a consistent 2 way 65 point scorer with a couple 70+ point years. instead he is back to putting up probably around 55 points, which is good, but we all expected more

First off, Mashinter was traded to CHI.

Second, I think its pretty easily Stepan. I was expecting him to pick up where he left off last year. Looks much slower this year. Less creative too.

Nash has been bad but ill give him the benefit of the doubt for.now because of the concussion.

I expected a better start from Stepan.

It's hard to vote for him as he does alot more than post points, but you hold out for the contract you get and come in and **** the bed for as long as he did (points wise) I'm going to be disappointed.

Maybe the teams fortunes are not much different if he had 10-15 more points. But after what hd did last season, I expected better production from him.

Which leads me to Nash. I think that Stepan's offensive struggles have had a direct effect on Nash. Together last season they were 75+ point players over a full season.

This year Stepan, while respectable, will be under 55 unless he stays as hot as he is right now (10 pts in the last 9 games)

Nash has gone into droughts himself and COULD end the season under 40 points.

top line players need to produce better numbers.

Went to MSG for the first time and Cosby and bought a size L vintage home jersey. They must have resizes everything to hobbitsizes now? I'm a large by normal standards, but in this kit I looked like Chara in Zukes uniform. Biggest dissapointment so far. Also dissapointed about Del Zotto not having a breakthrough season for Rangers.

Uh, Lundqvist? He's been all over the map this season. My expectations of him are to be consistent and he still hasn't found it. Nash comes next but I figure after his concussions he is playing it too safe or he just isn't the same player.

Consider me pretty shocked at all the Stepan hate. I thought this poll would be a landslide for Nash.

Think Step's has played more than well this season. Tied for the team lead in points, and is making great plays away from the puck. He's developing a little Datsyukian game too, with pick-pocketing the puck away from opposing players. Is playing in all situations.

Plus, he's turning it up when it matters. 12 points in the last 11 games.

I understand where it's coming from, but I thought this thread would be way more heavily focused on Nash.

Both Nash and Stepan need to add a little jam to their game. At least St Louis, scoring or not scoring, winning the puck or losing the puck, is busting his butt out there every shift.

Dubinsky + Anisimov + 1st round pick + 7.8 million cap hit

Rick Nash is one of the biggest disappointments of the last two decades.

7.8 million + a ton of assets, for a 20+ goal, 40 point player?

Gaborik was wildly inconsistent in his effort, but he still scored 35-40 goals. If the NTC is void, i would seriously look into trading Nash, recouping depth and picks. This roster is not a contender with Nash, the loss of Nash won't devestate them. In fact it could improve long-term health.

Stepan is our leading scorer.

The guy who has performed the lowest per my expectations is John Moore, but he just isn't as important as some of the other disappointments. I guess I'd have to go with Rick Nash.

Nash is on a 54 point clip for 82 games. New system and concussion. He should be turning it up now though. Hopefully last night gets him going. Been too inconsistent this year, and some can be blamed to his head injury. At least the first 5-7 games back from it to adjust. Anything past that is a bit much.

Also, that is somewhat defending Nash, my disappointment is Callahan. He demanded so much when worth less. Priced his way out of here. His play was less to be be desired on most nights. If he performed better, he'd still be here.

If Nash, at his salary and career standard, gets the injury excuse, then Stepan gets the "no camp" excuse. Yes, Stepan created his own problem but he should bounce back and frankly I expected the setback after seeing it before with dubinsky and others (with holding out).

Nash is one hot streak away from having a horrendous season.

Nash i almost expected to flop. Just how stars roll with the Rangers. Thus Stepan, who i thought established himself as a true #1, took a step back.

sadly, his underperformance still earns him the title of leading scorer on the team, but that is just a sad reflection of the team itself.

Out leading scorer isn't even in the top #60 in the NHL.

By dumb luck, you should have at least one guy in the top 30.

This team is sad.
