Lane Hutson vs Cole Hutson

Might be early to tell but from what we know now, who will be the better player.

Lane got picked up at #62
Cole will be a top 10 in the next draft

In all honesty, Cole is the more well rounded at the same age. Lane was more dynamic with the puck.

Cole is the better of the two, at the same age.

Cole's doing much better for the same age, but Lane's NCAA season was pretty great and it's unsure whether Cole will replicate it until he actually does.
great answer , so for now until Cole have a full season in NCAA we won't be sure

If one was picked 62nd overall and the other is gonna be top ten then it's pretty obvious who the better prospect is.
lol your joking right ?

Cole in the top 10 is a very aggressive assumption.
remake that 2022 draft and lane is in the top 10 as well. wtf

I would've said definitely Lane like six months ago, but Cole did show good progress towards the end of his season. His playmaking and skating has gotten him pretty close to what it was for Lane.

I would probably still say Lane because I think he's still more talented offensively, and while Cole is a little taller at the same age and a little better defensively at the same age, Lane grew later. If Cole ends up taller than Lane, that's an advantage, but that's a hard thing to predict for him. And Lane's defense has always been good for his size and the way he plays, even if Cole is a little better. I think Cole's defense will hit some hurdles due to his newfound offensive capabilities. Lane's always had the offensive capabilities, so he played so aggressive offensively. It wasn't that he was making tons of bad defensive plays. Sometimes when you play that way, it comes with defensive miscues. Cole didn't have that same offensive ability, so he played safer. As he starts to play less safe, some of the same problems could crop up in his game.

Cole is better at the same age but I dunno if he'll stay on that same trajectory as Lane the last two years.

Cole absolutely goes top 3 in a 2024 re-draft. Everybody is saying so.
The 2024 Draft hasn't even happened yet.. As of today, there looks like a pretty clear Big 3 Forwards in Celebrini/Eiserman/Demidov and then amongst Defensemen, Hutson is the mix with guys like Dickinson, Kiviharju and Levshunov, so it's not entirely clear where he would go if a Draft happened today. But time will tell after the 2023-24 season plays out.

Uh no, it's pretty simple. If one guy goes 2nd round and the other top ten then it's pretty obvious who the scouts like better. Doesn't mean the higher pick will have a better career but he was obviously the better draft eligible prospect. I'm not really why this thread even exists when one guy is two years ahead in his development.

Fans judging their own prospects are like guys that text their GF 300 times after they don't answer their phone when out with their friends, both bad ideas. (Sadly I'm guilty of both, tho I was hammered for the latter and she was really hot and very permiscouis 😉)

He had a great offensive season and it's fine to be excited but it's everything else that no matter how much hab fans want it to be it hadn't changed.

I don't mean to sound harsh but he has the physique of a kid in grade 8 despite what his EP page says. He's 5'9 which might be OK but he's barely a 160 pounds, when you throw in his average skating not only is that a bad combo but could lead to him getting flattened out there.

Then there's the issue of him not good at all defensively who has issues pivoting to skate backwards. Do you honestly think a coach would play him on a topb pairing against the McDavid and other top players?

If and this is a big if he's able to put up points, he's gonna likely be heavily sheltered pp specialist, no team uses a top 10 pick .

If your a small Dman you need to have the attributes Quinn Hughes has which is top 3 skating and IQ.

It's what's kept him from getting flattened while also allowing him to be an above average defender who kills penalties and plays 26+ minutes a night. He's also a 180 pounds and is still considered tiny.

I hope I'm wrong and he has a major growth spurt at 19, I enjoy watching dmen put up points but I think there's just too many obstacles for him.

I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up giving winger a shot? Much easier to be a winger than a dman at that size with average skating.
