Who gets waived?

If nobody gets waived / removed /released etc then are you okay with youngsters like Kadri and Frattin remaining the AHL this year?

Only allowed 23 roster spots per team of healthy bodies so you are maxed out with players that are not contributing and have high salaries and cap hits to boot.

I agree. Though I could see Burke trading a player or two out of respect for the player if they don't have a spot on the team.

Lombardi for example if he doesn't look good in camp (which I would be surprised if he does given how many marlies are in game shape), I can see Burke sending him off for a late pick and possibly retaining some of his salary.
 
I guess it all boils down to Randy C - is he here to win hockey games? Or is he here to play politics? If Randy doesn't mind ruffling some feathers with management/ownership you'll see a lot of money sitting in the press box. If those players can't win back their ice-time management has little choice but to waive them.

Most likely Steckel, Connolley, Lombardi

One of them gets waived. Question is, do they clear considering they all have this season? also that half of their salaried is written off due to lock out.

Who picks up who? I can see Calgary or Carolina picking up Connelly or Lombardi

Burke would never be able to do that. More like trading Bozak + Lombo for a 7th to a team with cap space.
 
If I could waive a magic paint brush and suddenly all of L.A.C.K and company were gone from memory, I doubt any Leaf fan would complain.

Lombardi, Connolly, Komisarek, Steckel etc etc would not be missed.

I would assume

Colborne and Hamilton remain in the AHL. Orr would be the 13th forward as the filler for Boston... etc.

That leaves these guys fighting for 3 spots...

Ranger-Franson have yet to be signed to NHL contracts, however both are NHL caliber dmen, but for now, to avoid confusion I'll leave them out of the roster.

Blacker, I'm positive will spend more time with the Marlies, Rielly will get experience at camp, but should be back in Junior...

So we have...

Gunnar
Phaneuf
Gardiner
Liles

Essentially guaranteed spots. Thus leaving Komisarek, Holzer and Fraser as the bottom pairing and #7 guy.

Pairings imo should be...

Gunnar-Phaneuf (21min)-(25min)
Liles-Komisarek (20mins)-(17min)
Gardiner-Holzer (21min)-(16min)
Fraser

Personally I think Komisarek will have a bounce back season, he's lost some weight and took the criticisms positively. Gardiner-Holzer will both be injury free when the season begins and should be a solid pairing.

Fraser (See Orr)
 
After watching his interview today, Komisarek looks a lot thinner...and possibly in better shape.

Maybe he won't be completely bad this year.

We are on totally different planets when it comes to assessing value. I would not give up either player for an aging goaltender who lost his job on a strong team because he could no longer be depended upon to prevent enough big goals. That sort of trade that you are proposing is why this team has been mired in mediocrity for generations.

oh god can you imagine how insufferable Kadri would be on the canucks with the likes of lapierre and kesler??

First he has to be traded (hopefully not...not cuz I like Kadri...but because I dont want Luongo on this team)

Even still...

He has to make the Canucks first.

He's had quite a hard time trying to on the Leafs of all teams.
