When Edmundson is ready to play is an easy one for me: Dadpnov, Drouin, or Hoffman. Take your pick.

When Edmundson and Matheson are back is more complicatedxquestion, because ideally I want both Xman and Kovacevic playing in the top 6 and getting experience. But there will be no room for both, barring a trade or injury.

To me he looked like Josh Gorges did when he was first breaking in with the team his first game in the lineup after sitting many many games: a totally rusty out of sync turnover machine.
Solution is simple trade Edmundson. I don't get why trading him is such a controversial idea. The guy is always injured. He's not that special. He wont be good anymore for most of our next window.

Pezzetta can't go down, we will lose him , he will be claimed on waivers for sure.
I am yet to see anything from Pezz to convince me that he is an NHL asset. He may have one decent game but for the most part he is completely invisible at best. I would agree that losing him for nothing would still suck.

Why we don't entertain trading Edmundson instead of sending someone down? I don't get it. We have Matheson and Savard and Johnathan Kovacevic can fill a spot.

I would also move Eddy if the price is still high.

But Eddy is coming off of another injury. His value may be low. If he comes back and plays well, and another team runs into injury problems on D, maybe he gets a good return by the time Matheson is ready. But more likely it both takes more time for him to get his value back up and it's closer to TDL that contenders start salivating at the idea of adding a 6'4 top 4 rock onnD for a playoff run.

You would be surprised, these kind of players are in demand.

Well :
- He could fetch more if he can play more than 30 straight games without injury, and not trading him now enables HuGo to give him this chance.
- Probably better to wait for the deadline next season. Unless we can swap him for a UFA-to-be who could also fetch something decent at THIS deadline.

i'd build around Edmundson still, send Wideman to Laval, no way Arbs should be gone
There’s an outside chance that Hughes makes room by completing a trade. You never know what he has in store.

He needs to play to have trade value and show his injury is behind him, but for that to happens someone has to be kicked off the roster (or get injured long term, but you don't want that).

Since the Habs went with 6 Ds on a trip, Eddy is technically the 7th D right now which means a forward will be moved to insert him. There's been some noise about teams sending lots of pro scout (two even sent assistant gm which usually means trade talks are happening) to Habs games. This would suggest at least one player is on the trade block right now.

Do u see him playing in Laval at his age? If they terminate his contract, he could sign for decent money in Europe.

He won't, but I don't see him playing in Laval.

If he doesn't want to play in Laval, that is his dilemma. Don't play and bypass a lot of money or report. His choice. We owe nothing to Dadonov.

One question I am not sure of is can we send him to Laval but he just sits games and collects his money? Remember when Drouin refused to report to the AHL when Tampa sent him down? Lasted a little bit before he changed his mind. Did he get paid for the time he choose not to report? Not sure

IMO, the one D currently that should be the first to sit is Chris Wideman. He's here basically to play on the PP and has not gotten the job done. I have no idea how he's still on the PP (Albeit the 2nd unit now) over the younger ones like Guhle and Harris. Anyways, he would be kept on as the 7th D IMO as even Kovacevic has done a fabulous job thus far this year. Could rotate him in once in a while to give a young D a break.

Pezzetta: I was a fan a couple years ago, but to me in the pre-season and his season debut last game, he is showing absolutely zero..the guy should be crashing and banging every single shift, yet I rarely see him throw a solid bodycheck out there. Not good enough and to me, isn't an NHL player at this point.

Can't get maximum value for Joel E until it is shown that he is healed and durable.

Pezzetta for some reason has become very vanilla. He didn't bring energy in pre season and played a very soft game against St. Louis. Maybe MSL wants him to change his style?

He needs to play some before he is tradeable for something decent. I hear Leafs' D sucks.

I don't believe the Habs are in a hurry to trade him and other teams are also not in a hurry to trade a 1st rounder they don't know where it's going to be yet either.

Something to ponder about at the TDL. If Chiarot was only traded at the deadline, that applies to Eddy as well. And the Habs likely have a higher asking price for Eddy vs Chiart. Slightly better with one more year.

Eddy has lots of value. However, Gorton/Hughes will be patient if/when they move him.

I think you get suspended in that situation. Unless there's an agreement that you sit awaiting a trade.

OK

In the top 6:
Edmundson
Matheson
Xhekaj
Kovacevic

Which of the following three are out of the top 6?
Savard
Guhle
Harris
If it's Savard, we can waive Wideman or have a roster with 8 D.

If it's Guhle or Harris, he would need to be sent down to keep playing.

But WHY?

Why should Kovacevic play over Savard, Harris or Guhle?

Kovacevic won't play over Savard, Harris or Guhle.

So, for me, idealy you get a 1st for Savard, Edmundson, or Matheson - but I'm in favor of the tank.

What they'll probably do is have Kovacevic as #7 and rotate him in for Arber, or send Arber down.

True. I know its a lot of money, but I just can't see him reporting to Laval. I'd rather see Pitlick or Pezzetta in his spot too.
It would be utterly ridiculous for them to send down a rookie D instead, so I hope that doesn't happen.
The rookies are all better than Wideman. So Wideman sits as 7th D, and we waive one of the five forwards who has been benched last game or this game.

I vote Dadonov, who is the only one benched twice, is old and slow, has no points, no future, and no ties to the team or the past.

I voted Xhekaj. Since Edmunston is similar player. Rather see Xhekaj get tons of minutes in Laval than on bench here
Pezz and him is the most reasonable scenarios. I don't want a frustrated Hoffman or Dadonov in Laval locker room.

Pezzetta was better than expected on a bad team last year, and so far not meeting those same expectations on a better team this year.

He needs to go all out. His peak game is acceptable his normal game is not NHL level.
