Who else has very little interest in the Four Nations tournament?

I had zero interest in the lead up. But now that it's here, 2 days away, I'm actually pretty pumped for it. Team Sweden is absolutely deadly imo, they will be in the finals

It’s a little bit of a joke when players are sitting out a tournament when they are healthy enough to play NHL games.

Either you can play or you cannot. It makes a mockery of the tournament.

I will be specifically rooting against the Knights and Canucks, and the two players who chose to sit out. Further, both players should be punished by their national ice hockey federation and suspended for the Olympics next year.

Quinn Hughes actually missed a few games dealing with his injury. :dunno:

Not sure what to make of Alex Pietrangelo suddenly unable (or unwilling) to participate though, dude played in every Vegas game leading up to the tournament.

Ticket prices are my biggest complaint. For a tournament that a lot of people here say they don't care about the ticket prices are all still really high.

I plan on going to Boston if the US actually makes the final but I'm prepared to be disappointed and them not make it anyway since the world junior teams are the only US teams who don't disappoint.

Whatever anyone's feelings on it and everybody has made valid points i can say one thing, as a fan of a participating team, I'd rather win it then lose it.

I think anytime, any place any format or failings it's an honour to put on your countries jerseys and I expect maximum effort, pride and intensity.

I get less then that then the tournaments a failure.

Crosby's banged up and is practicing/still wants to play for Canada? I think that tells me the players care, and it will be entertaining high-intensity hockey.
I'm going to go out on a limb and say this will be the most meaningful hockey Crosby will play this season, but I don't believe that is saying much.

This is unhinged. Quinn's missed their last 4 games. He has an oblique injury.

All Star games are such an anachronism, but I'm not really into this idea. For one, what about the players from countries not in the four chosen? Geopolitics pretty much bar Russia, but what of Germany (who didn't have enough talent to make a team from NHL players) or the Czech Republic?

Yep. I don't get the people saying this will be like an all-star game intensity, or that guys will be just gliding around playing pond hockey. They're out to lunch.

The players are competitive. They want to be there. It's going to be intense and entertaining hockey.

I don't think players are going to hit their NHL teammates. Nor are they going to take pucks to uncomfortable places.

I guess they were just unlucky to not be born in any of the four countries arbitrarily determined to take part in this tournament.

Germans, Czechs and players of other nationalities must instead wait until the Olympic rosters take shape, I suppose - and enjoy the break that this tournament gives them. :dunno:

I pretty much lost interest in NHL tournaments after the 2016 World Cup of Hockey tournament had North America despite featuring the two North American countries and crammed a bunch of players into a generic Europe roster.

Wasn't "North America" just a scattering of players who fit a lower age requirement? Think they were all under 24 or something.

And yes it made zero sense and I'm glad they're not doing that again.

My level of hype is quite low tbh. The whole thing just feel gimmicky to me.

That said it's better than the all star game so there's that
