Who else has very little interest in the Four Nations tournament?

An international best on best tournament where one team is dramatically not weaker, but more shallow than the other teams.

And an international best-on-best without Ovechkin, Kucherov, Kaprizov, Shesterkin, Drai, Hischier and Josi?

Again - was North America vs the World just too galaxy brained of a take for the league, when they did it a few years at the ASG?

Stupid tournament is better than the ASG but still stupid.

Hate the concept of in season tournaments.

While I like Olympic Hockey, I hate that it's during the season.

Would prefer that they do this in the offseason and not potentially have teammates going at it with the playoffs still in the balance.

I'll watch the sideshow that it is, but would prefer it in July

Look in the mirror.

You’re so stuck on talking points. For you to say this is hilarious.

While you’re bitching about illegal immigrants getting free healthcare, everyone else is trying to figure out how citizens can get decent healthcare. Illegal inmigrants are the topic they discuss so people like you will get all fired up. Then you’ll ignore actual issues, like you are now, because of illegal immigrants. JD Vance blamed the housing crisis on illegal immigrants at the VP debate, lol.

You literally have eaten all of the propaganda. When that other dude looks in the mirror he will see himself. When you look in the mirror you’ll see whatever FOX News tells you to see.

How can you not like best on best hockey tournament as a hockey fan? This ain’t gimmick all star games, every conditions point to players taking this seriously (they wanted it, preselect showing for OG)
Regular season games are all a best on best in the NHL.

I can see the appeal for this tournament for Europeans or people who don't have a home team but there's plenty of top level hockey to be watched right now.

I feel like this would have been better in the offseason.

I've been waiting World Cup for ages. It's sad that some people seem not to approciate seeing superstars like McDavid and Crosby playing together on their national jerseys.

So f***ing excited about this. Only thing whats sad is that there is no 8 teams, Czech especially should be there.. or atleast 6. But guess less games makes it easier to be arranged.

People who whine about this being middle of the season don't perhaps know that this is what PLAYERS wanted. Bet the injury risk is much lower than if this was in September for example. Also, if this was in "off-season" that would be just off their holidays, no player likes that.

Chai-nuh has actually been very fair they’ve paid us billions of dollars actually hundreds of billions of dollars. Canada is the one actually that has been very unfair.
Unfair? The USA uses a lot of oil. Which Canada has lots of. Both heavy and crude.. Canada has a lot of trees as well. And rare metals. Canada is a resource country. The USA takes those cheap resources and turns them into more expensive products to sell globally. A 25% tariff will make those products more expensive, probably 25% cause good luck getting them cheaper from other places.

Not only will consumers in the USA have to spend more, but production costs will rise, and American products will become more expensive and therefor less competitive. Which will actually hurt American companies.

Why? We the citizens have been punished for the idiotic things our governments have done i.e. selling my grandkid's future out to send billions upon billions to foreign countries, or giving free heathcare and education to people who aren't even citizens with our tax money. If their "punishment" is not being included in a meaningless hockey tournament I'd say they're doing a lot better than we are.
Your grandkids will be more concerned that you sold out the country for the 1% to pillage.

My buddy was able to get tickets to USA v Canada in Montreal so I'm very excited to see that city for the first time and have a nice little trip with some friends.

Sarcasm exists despite your denial. I was poking fun at the hipsters who care so little about the tournament that they have grown this thread to 21 pages.

I'll be glued. It's the closest to best-on-best we'll have before the 2026 Olympics.

Not having Russia involved means one "best" is missing entirely. The Czechs and Slovaks would be capable of an upset or two. Maybe the Swiss and Germans as well.

Trying to cram a tournament into 8 days greatly limits what can be done. A September tourney would have been better. Just scrap the ASG entirely.

This. It's meaningless. I legit forgot this was even happening until this thread.

It's supposed to grow the game but in reality it's a f*** you to all of the more mid-sized hockey nations like Czechia, Slovakia, Germany, etc who usually also get to participate. Instead we get "the four nations but in reality these four countries have the most NHL players so it's easy to organize" tournament.

The NBA mid-season tournament has more credibility because while yes, it's whack, guys at least put effort in since money is on the line, and who doesn't like to have more money?

Obviously guys don't get paid for the Olympics but at the very least the prestige/legacy is more than enough to entice players to play. Not really the case with this.
There’s really not that much
I have a huge amount of interest in it. Just the exercise of picking best on best teams for 4 countries is very cool. As a soccer fan I wish hockey had international play more intertwined in the league schedule.

McDavid and Matthews have never represented their countries against each other until this, that's a crime. When those jerseys go on players are going to be playing hard for their flags. People comparing it to an all-star game are insane. Obviously it's not the Olympics, but soccer has other international tournaments besides the World Cup that players care about as well.
There are a lot of small minded thinkers in the hockey world, unfortunately. This is going to be fantastic television and hockey.

I've never saw the allure, outside of the Olympics, of in season tournaments.

And even then I'd prefer not to have that in season.

Feels like a cheap money gr

It's not "best on best" at all but an apartheid tournament. You might as well call the annual World Championships "best on best", then. Those interest me, but the upcoming apartheid tournament is firmly on my ignore list

Oh stop gatekeeping. People can be fans however they want. There is no "real fan" BS. Just because I don't want to gobble up everything the NHL is trying to sell me, doesn't make me a fake fan. The only good thing about this tournament is that it replaces the All-Star game for a year.
What a silly comment, of course there’s levels of fandom! Are you for real? They’re absolutely correct when they say if you’re not interested in watching mcdavid and co play Matthews and co, head to head, you’re crazy and clearly don’t enjoy hockey that much. You think a team with Marchand, bennett, Hagel, Konecny against Tkachuk bros is going to be a tame affair? It defies logic.

Many people are not hockey fans but NHL fans.

This is an exhibition and a tryout for some players for the real tournament, the Olympics.

Best on best international hockey has been neutered since 2014. The NHL understands it has value and fans crave it, thus they throw us a bone like this and previously like the stupid U23 team etc.

The NHL wants their hands in the International cookie jar, but has no concept on how to pull it off.

Give us an Olympics every 4 years with NHL players. Just enough time in between tournaments to build anticipation and create a special atmosphere. Any more than that at this point is too much.
