Flamingo said:Would you guys get on with it? This is like waiting in line at Baskin Robins, and they guy in front of you keeps asking for samples of the same two flavours.
Imagine having the chance to draft THAT and turning it down.
But still not as bad as people that use that use the letter you in color or flavor or leave a b out of Robbins
Three wingers at the top of the list when factoring positional role/value?
Bold strategy.

Yep. So if you factor that two wingers (I'm not counting Stutzle as a winger), I'm saying these prospects are very strong. For example, I don't think it's a reach saying Lafreniere, a guy who has done it all and has shown up at every level, is a very strong prospect.
I consider Laf and Stutzle on the same level, with Raymond almost as good as Stutzle/Laf...but I put Stutzle at the top of the two wingers since I consider Stutzle a prototypical playmaking 1C.
We'll see about Stutzle being a C.
Why? He has every skill necessary and played there until his first season in a mens league. We'll see about Stutzle being a C.

Its a bonus that he could also play as a winger, but he definitely projects as a center.
Byfield is my guy at 2nd overall. I just think he has the most potential of any player in the draft.
I respect the opinion of others who disagree (there are valid criticisms of Byfield's game). Ultimately no one knows who will turn out to be the best NHL player.
It just gets on my nerves when people speak authoritatively about which prospect is better, or make false claims. But the worst and most annoying takes are anything involving race/nationality.
Even though I want Byfield, I'll be okay with whoever the Kings pick because the staff has earned my trust in recent drafts. The Bjornfot pick really solidified my confidence.
Two and a half things scare me with Stützle. Fortunately I think most can be fixed or improved
1. Shot - I have not seen a whole lot that shows he can really rip the puck. I have seen a lot of video that pardon the comparison but reminds me of Doughty. Lots on net , lots soft, lots miss, the odd one goes in. Hopefully filling out muscle wise helps the shot strength.
2. Perimeter play - he uses the whole ice to get in position, go wide on people while protecting the puck and give him extra time/room to set up plays. I want to see him on NHL ice with 15 less feet and with coverage that can skate with him and stick with him. Watching Byfield and Lafreniere we see a lot of plays with them not having room then making room going to the net. I want to see this out of Stützle.
half - Center eligibility- nothing has shown me that this is a for sure thing. Yes he did it at World Jrs against peers with a loaded top line but again a small sample size. Can any German fans that saw him play fill me in on if this is a position he has played in the past with any type of consistency and capability? We have to remember prior to this year he was not deemed to be a top 10 pick.
I am not down on the kid by any means and I would welcome him to our lineup. I just don’t think he will be as good as some imagine. I see a few potential problems that may set him back on the smaller ice surface playing against pros. There is no way I think he is even mentioned in the same breathe as Lafreniere.
I didn't say he won't be one but he isn't locked in as one either. If you take him at #2, he better be a center.
This is worth discussing...from what I've seen/read, he has a good wrist shot, he just needs to use it more. Also, it will be interesting to see what game he will have in his new, bulked up frame and on the NHL-sized rink. And with NHL-caliber linemates such as Vilardi or Kopitar.
My main question for him playing center is what is his face-off ability like? You can't make offensive plays if you don't have the puck. As for him now suddenly in the top 2/3 picks this year, this doesn't bother me. I've seen several forward prospects surge during their draft year or the D+1 year after the draft and have great success in the NHL. Patrick Kane comes to mind. Kopitar could have been a #2 pick if he had more time...Elias Petterson as well.
Pettersson fires absolute missiles though.I feel like pre-draft Pettersson is a great comparable for pre-draft Stutzle.

YOu've just gotta have a more vivid imagination
Even if the clear cut best pick in the draft is a LW?
I too believe that Byfield is the best option, but I have a nagging feeling that Stützle ends up just as good, but with a skill set that would do more to compliment the rest of the asset list instead of leading from the front. In a vacuum, its Byfield. Looking at the prospect list, its Stützle.
Its not as easy a choice as many here find it, these are two very different players who would both be incredible assets to the Kings.
I think you and I both agreed, maybe on here earlier, that in particular I feel Stutzle's game compliments our roster/prospect list very well.
