So far, McDavid, Kucherov, Draisaitl, and Mackinnon have been responsible for the last eight Art Ross wins, and the status quo doesn't seem to be going away. Who do you see winning the Art Ross scoring race in 3-4 years after these four slow down? Jack Hughes is a likely candidate based on a combination of the level he's shown, the Devil's competent supporting cast and his prime years are still ahead.

If Chicago can sign a Marner/Rantanan or another star in the next few offseasons, I think it's Bedard.

He has all the tools, IQ, and pedigree to be that guy. Should be mid 20s right in the middle of his prime in the window you described

Dude stop making stuff up! MacKinnon has won 0 Art Ross trophies so far! 0...
And Draisaitl only won one because McDavid carried him to one!

Mackinnon never won Art Ross...

Everyone could see him winning one though, perhaps this very season. Who besides these four will win an Art Ross anytime soon? It’s a valid question and an interesting one to be honest.

Interesting to note that there has been an unusual lack of young talent in the Top Ten scoring that last 3 seasons (22/23 to 24/45). Normally there are 3 or 4 players under age 25 in the Top 10 but there only has been a total of 3 in the past three years (and only one in the past two seasons - Jack Hughes in 10th place, Quinn Hughes was 15th last year).

Has there been a another stretch of drafts lacking high end talent like we saw in the late '90s/early '00s?

Also has there ever been a 7 year period where the same 4 players dominated offensively with no other challenger? Especially unusual that the one is his 30s is the reigning offensive leader for almost 2 full seasons now.

Your post contains zero logic, especially considering that in order to win the Art Ross, you have to outproduce all other players. Therefore, if Draisaitl outproduced McDavid that year, clearly the latter couldn't be carrying the former. Not exactly rocket science.

Well, it's not like the top 4 scorers the past 7 years have always been these guys. In fact last year was the first time MacKinnon finished top 4 in scoring I think. Over the past 7 years, other than the 4 guys mentioned, these guys have finished top 4 in scoring: Pastrnak - twice, Panarin - twice, Huberdeau, Gaudreau, Marchand, Kane, Giroux and Malkin.

Seems weird....how can McDavid carry Draisaitl to a scoring title. If McDavid is responsible for all of Draisaitl's points, how does Draisaitl win instead of McDavid?
McDavid played 7 less games than Draisaitl that season. Plus he had a knee injury that he was recovering from the whole season holding him back.

This just weakens your argument further, as a player with an injury or recovering from an injury will require carrying rather than having the ability to carry others.

How are we in 2025 and people STILL think that McDavid carries Draisait?

It will probably be someone who still isn't in the NHL still like Mckenna.

Among current young NHLer, I would go with Bedard.

Dude we just had the Rantanen trade. Many claimed that Rantanen was the real deal while he played in Colorado and wasn't supposed to be carried by MacKinnon and Makar. Now reality sets in and everybody can see that Rantanen isn't all that special on his own. Draisaitl would crumble in a similar way if he was ever traded away from McDavid. McDavid is Batman while Draisaitl is Robin.

I meant no one has challenged the highs these players have reached. Not that they finish top 4 every season. Also do a points per game breakdown season by season and these are the usual suspects for a long time now.
