Bron's a good guess. Would need to be someone WWE is really invested in. I know he's on RAW, but maybe Punk? Maybe if Drew becomes a mega-heal?

Here's a couple of options I think would make sense:

1. The Rock. One way to do this - have The Rock vs Cody at the Rumble or on Day 1 (Netflix start, Jan 1st) and have Rock win (can be clean, or not). This prompts an anticipated big rematch at WM41 - I'd personally lean on it being a 3 way, so Rock (c) vs Reigns vs Cody. Wrap up all 3 wrestler's story in one big showdown, but with Rock entering as champion.

2. John Cena at WM41 while turning heel. Cena wins rumble....big face vs face showdown with Cena going for title #17, but he turns heel during match (wiht Rock helping him), screwing Cody out of title. This sets the stage for a Cena heel run in 2025 in his last year, and a future Rock/Cody showdown

Barring any huge name like Rock/Cena & a heel turn - if we're only looking at full time current guys - honestly, anyone so long as it's a heated feud. These endless title runs are no fun. It's more fun when a top face loses (maybe gets screwed, or not), and has to face avdersity to win again. Here's one example:

Orton turns on Cody - they have a very heated feud over ~3-4 months, with sadistic heel Orton showing up. Orton wins title - but before end of feud, Cody wins it back.

I don’t think they know either. They didn’t when Roman got the title considering the guy who won it was building a competing company

I could see Bron eventually being a tweener vs Cody who eventually turns Cody heel.

Something along the lines of Bron keeps antagonizing Cody. Interfering with matches, jumping him, talking shit in promos and one day Cody snaps and does something. He then embraces his whole heel persona. Instead of the American Nightmare hes some cocky old school heal like a flair. Making Bronn the face who eventually wins the title.

Maybe Bronn wins the rumble after stacked odds

There is also Jacob Fatu down the line

i only see Cody turning heel if he faces the Rock or someone else so big that he has to wrestle heel. i doubt he plans on having a heel run

"I don't care how you get here. Get here if you can."

I'll be fine with literally anyone pinning him. The sooner the better.

Why are we having this discussion when you know it's going to be Roman. He'll do the Bloodline thing for a few months then eventually drift back into the title picture and before we know it the strap is back around his waist, lol.

Roman v Rock for the title at WM41 isn't off the table imo.

Cody has been a way better champion than i could have ever predicted when he came back, but the thought of "okay how long before this gets stale?" is still at the back of my head. He's not at the level of Super Cena or anything like that, but at some point his kissing babies, shaking everyone's hand white meat babyface run will start to turn fans away. Ideally you take the title off him before it gets to that point.

I'm just not sure how you get the belt off of him in this scenario. Can't really go back to the "Cody gets screwed by the bloodline" angle again since he essentially beat it at WM40. You could maybe hot shot the title to somebody like Orton for a couple months and have him lose to the Rock to have him as champion going into Wrestlemania while Roman wins the rumble, having to overcome Rock placing his cronies in it to prevent him from doing so. But Triple H seems to value long title reigns(for good reason) so him having the title jump between 3 guys in a 6-7 month window seems very unlikely.

Don't need to turn him heel. I'm just saying they shouldn't run him into the ground to the point where people WANT the heel turn.
He’s the top star in the company, he’s going to naturally be given all of that time.

I honestly thought he’d be getting some boos, but he’s still super over.

I just can’t stand the geek. I just think I’d actually warm up to him if he’s a corporate heel d-bag.

I'm thinking Jacob Fatu could win it at some point.

That guy is f***ing good, man.
