Wait until the playoffs are over and see if a good coach from an underperforming team shakes loose.
i think you could get sully out of Pittsburgh if you want him. he's not a hexy boy so he could be gone, or you could offer a pick and cut out any other teams.

When does the WC end? I'd like to get Gallant signed up sooner than later.

Really have zero interest in Sullivan who had the luxury of coaching all star rosters for the last 6 years in Pittsburgh.

Brind’Amour isn’t happening

Sullivan I have a bad feeling that Pitt is going to do what Philly did with Laviolette and bring him dead man walking into the season so a rival can’t hire him.

still feels like Gallant or Tocchet

Mike Sullivan would be fantastic. Dude is a top 3 coach in the league

For some reason I apparently voted for Boudreau. Now, I like him as a person and a hockey mind. But he wouldn’t be my choice for this team. I am going to have to say my account got hacked just for that vote. Probably the Russians sowing discord. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

It’s not going to be popular, but honestly, hook me up to a lie detector and I would have to say that Mike Babcock is my clear favorite.

Do I have sympathies for him? Do I think he is a good guy? Nope. But do I think he would do a good job? Absolutely.

That’s the tough part about it. Everything that’s come out about him recently highlights how garbage of a person he can be behind the scenes, but there’s no denying that he’s an incredible hockey coach. If he didn’t have the baggage, it’d be a no-brainer decision to hire him - although he’s probably not even available in that scenario.

However, I do hate that “legal interference” bullshit he’s made popular in today’s game. The league needs to crack down harder on taking the cheap way out and controlling opposing team’s speed and skill.

Yeah, and to be honest, I wonder if he wouldn't be a good GM too.

I don't doubt that Gambadoro is plugged in and is correct on Tocchet getting a second interview, but would he really know the entire scope of the head coaching search here? I've actually never heard of him before today.

I’m skeptical of this as well. Although with Sather back in the mix information seems to be leaking out more than when Gorton was in charge

so who knows

Send Sather down to coach. He'll get the best out of 'em knowing the boss is watching, just like last time!

Sigh I can’t get behind a Tocchet hire. Especially not with having that idiot Quinn just leaving. Gallant is the obvious choice here.

the rebuild going down in flames like the hindenburg

It's getting scary.

It's like Sather said, "Hey, this team is looking like a future powerhouse, I better jump in and customize it so I can get the credit after Gorton did all the hard work."

Again, they should just pick whoever they feel is best. I guarantee 95% of the people here have no clue about the difference between any of these coaches outside of just looking at their records. If from talking with the coaches Drury decides Tocchet is the best option - fine. If he decides Gallant is the best option - fine. There are some coaches whose styles I am familiar with and many that I'm not. In each case I wouldn't assume they would do the same thing here that they did in the past as things changes with different players and in a different organization. 182 people in this thread have voted for Gallant. Does anyone truly believe more than a few actually know about him and those votes aren't just following along what people say here, on twitter, and in the news? The decision on who to hire isn't so important. What's more important is to support them properly with the right players and staff.
