Tampa. I can handle losing to them. Can't handle losing to anyone in the Metro. Plus i feel like they're weaker than they were.

Tampa is very good and Vasi is the only other goalie who has the upside of Igor, but you have to think at some point the tired legs are going to start to effect the Lightning, especially on D. McD is relied upon a lot and hes got a ton of mileage. Theyve also, lost some of that team speed they had.

Doesn’t really matter who we want at this point. It’s going to be Pittsburgh.

If I could choose any it would be Toronto because then my whole countries media would be focused on the series and it would be the talk of the country. Would be awesome to knock them out in the 1st round again and even more satisfying if it’s at the hands of my team.

But if I’m being less selfish and picking based on how we play against them, I know we swept Tampa but they’re too good. I think we match up best against Pittsburgh, even when they beat us I thought we outplayed them. Pittsburgh will still be a different story in the playoffs where Crosby/Malkin/all that experience will shine though.

'be careful what you wish for' comes to mind...there are no easy matchups. some teams you'd like to avoid more but they will all be tough

To be the best you gotta beat the best, I think this team can beat any team in the East in a 7 game series. If we somehow win the division Boston Tampa and the Leafs will be tough series but I have faith we can pull through

What's the difference between R1 and R2? You're playing a good team either way. The Rangers play good team defense and have an excellent goalie, that translates against any opponent.
Thought about this a bit. Team defense wise, aside from the Flyer game, we have improved in relation to earlier in the year when Igor had to be all world to bail us out. On the flip, goaltending has been a bit rough since pre Xmas. The PK has been so so.

Our offense is still middling outside our power play. In the playoffs, being cute and east west won't do us any favors. What I meant about maybe in round one we can get away with it is because any team in R2 would have beaten a team probably better than we are already.

So what *is* our actual game? Not what we want, but the reality: good goaltending at the beginning of the year, stingy defense now, and a good power play. How far can that ride out? We need at least 3 goals a game to win.

We better hope we get alot of calls.

If only we had Laf, Chytil and a healthy Kakko playing above replacement...not saying it's their fault

Granted they've played more than anyone else over their 2 cup winning seasons, but over that span they've played 171 games reg season+playoffs. In 2 non-covid affected seasons they would have played 164 reg season games, meaning that to win 2 cups they've only played 7 more games than they normally would have if they didn't even make the playoffs
It's all relative, but their prior workload shouldn't be a big factor

Who is the best team we can face in round one? I want that team so we can take them out first.
If we get 2nd place, its Pitt. If we get 1st, it would be Boston, TML or Tampa. This, of course, is baring any big runs or collapses down the stretch.

There are no easy paths. Doesn't matter who we play and which divisional slot we end up in, if we win it's an upset (and hopefully the underdog status is GONE by next year in every round).

I really have no idea who would be the toughest out of that bunch.

Thanks. In that case I guess I "want" Tampa. Let's be the ones to take them out. If we're not good enough to beat a team in the first round, we're not going to take them out in a subsequent round. I'd honestly rather go out in R1 than in the Conference Finals or something. I guess it's good for the guys to win a playoff round or two, but as a fan that's no consolation. So let's go, whoever is toughest is who I want.

Who has been our absolute toughest matchup during the season so far? TML? Good news is that we have at least one win against every big boy in the East. Bad news is that we haven't played a proper playoff with most of this group. Exciting no matter what.

As much as I've gotten on them lately like when they had 4 f***ing shots in two periods total against the Devils, the Rangers haven't allowed more than 26 shots in the last 7 games, three of which went into OT. That's incredible. Yeah, they sometimes play loose and allow the opponent an odd man rush but overall since the deadline outside of half of the first Devils game the defense has been very good and so has the possession game.

Yes, but the playoffs should count like a game and a half, those games are really high intensity.

From the realistic teams that team I probably least want to face is Toronto. Imagine being the first team to lose t them in the first round since 2004? The fans on HF wouldn't shut up. Plus that team is lethal offensively. Their Power Play is #1 by a mile as good as ours has been.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but it seems like the past month we have had more penalties called against us and not as many for us, where as in the 3/4 of the season we were pretty good staying out of the box and our PK was great.
Are we getting more calls and that's why our PK is dropping? Makes me nervous for a series against Pitt.
