Agree he just turned 27 in March at the prime of his careerHe's just entering his prime and if anything this past season made him MORE affordable. The Leafs certainly can keep him.

oh boy do I have news for you. This was not his first year of being bad.he had an off year, hes a future norris winner if ive ever seen one.
Rielly is nowhere near a top 10 dman in NHL .. he is close to a top 10 offensive points dman in NHL .. but most offensive points dman are not in top 10 overall best dmen in NHL ..
What is more important is he is still young and he has a skill set we don't have in system -- speed on backend .. Sandin is not an NHL skater yet (technical issue with his stride) although appears to have great hockey IQ .. Lily is still way too inexperienced .. BUT we may have a CAP issue if Rielly wants more than 5M per .. at 5.5M per or over then we have to trade him away for affordability on CAP this summer .. it is a tough one but mostly a CAP issue
if you say so random guy on internet loloh boy do I have news for you. This was not his first year of being bad.
IMO you move him to a team who may be up against the cap and needs help from the back end.
I think Edmonton makes a ton of sense.
- I dont know how many more years McJesus is gonna be ok with being the most dominant forward in hockey and being on a bad team
- They need a good offensive defense man who isnt a complete liability (Barrie), and preferably someone affordable.
- They have a few assets that they can give up that would be a worth a legit top pair guy who can help QB the PP.
Edmonton gets Rielly + Brooks + Hallander
Leafs get Puljujarvi (looked really good defensively, and showed he is a mid 6 winger) and one of Broberg or Bouchard.
- Leafs save money in the short term, but give up by far the most valuable piece as of today.
- Im assuming Dermott is the person gone in the expansino draft, but if its Kerfoot Hallander may be more important depth wise. So he can be replaced by a similar valued guy (recent mid-second prospect)
Jesus, you're not getting Rielly at 5 per nor should he accept that. No way Brodie or Muzz should be making more than him. We have lots of time to find the money to pay him.Rielly is nowhere near a top 10 dman in NHL .. he is close to a top 10 offensive points dman in NHL .. but most offensive points dman are not in top 10 overall best dmen in NHL ..

Is Seth Jones Actually Elite?if you say so random guy on internet lol
We're talking about the same Pool party that plays for the Oilers right?IMO you move him to a team who may be up against the cap and needs help from the back end.

AgreeNo need to trade Rielly. He's a core player, and a keeper.
Muzzy and Brodie are both far better and more complete defenders .. da cream rises to da top in big games and Muzzy showed everyone why he is a Cup winner .. Rielly would be getting overpaid significantly if he makes more than MuzzyJesus, you're not getting Rielly at 5 per nor should he accept that. No way Brodie or Muzz should be making more than him. Maybe we can get Hyman to take 2-3 per and take one for the team eh?
Please do explain how they are both 'more complete' than Rielly.Muzzy and Brodie are both far better and more complete defenders .. da cream rises to da top in big games and Muzzy showed everyone why he is a Cup winner .. Rielly would be getting overpaid significantly if he makes more than Muzzy
Rielly has been fantastic vs Montreal. None of the issues we saw during the regular season.
Unless Jones makes fundamental changes to how he approaches his defensive assignments, which would mean overhauling his skating, he's gonna be one of those guys that are talked up as being good but who are actually hemorrhaging shots against for 20+ minutes every night. If CBJ would do Marner for Jones, I would look to move Rielly, otherwise Rielly stays.
Yep agreeWe can afford to pay Rielly what he is worth, and that is going to be north of 6 mill. Probably not more than 6.5 mill though. We have the cap to do that if that is what it takes.
Give him Kessel's dead money.
How about no , rielly played great in the playoffs and Is a leaderGet rid of Rielly. He can't defend, he's like a forward playing D. This guy always ends up in the opposing teams corner somehow and leads to a 2 on 1 against. We have enough forwards, use his cap space to get a defenceman who actually plays defense.
If we could trade him and sign Jones straight up for the same price, it's a no brainer.
