Mathews lack of excellence in the playoffs is my main reservation. He drops to a 34g 72p pace when the real competition starts and that concerns me for a tournament. He just doesn’t strike me as a guy who gives much of a shit about winning.

He’s an American so obviously I hope I’m wrong. I hope he turns into a monster and helps us win, that would be phenomenal.

Faber blossoming into an absolute beast really takes that defense to another level. I don’t think the Canadians can match that top four to be honest, although their full depth chart is still ridiculous.

Yeah I think the key difference between Canada and US is not the much discussed goaltending disparity which is evident- but is on D.

Obviously that’s a great Canadian defence but I think the US might have the slight edge. I will say the championship pedigree of the Canadian defence might sway the other way.

I can see him step up for this tournament , putting on a different jersey is probably going to remove 75% of the choker voodoo he's got going on
