I missed periods 1 and 2 so just going off of the replays. Very different hit than Reaves. Reaves caught only the head. But this still caught too much of the head for my liking. Probably closer to a 2 minute penalty than a 5. The fact they put the Leafs on the PK after that is laughable imo.

The screengrab earlier in the thread shows Knies tensing up. Hopefully it's nothing too serious.

You can't see the angle well in this shot.

It's the upward trajectory that is bad. He ends up in the air by the conclusion of the hit.

I don't see how you can think it isn't a head shot.

I don't think too many are saying this is exactly like the Reeves hit. An acknowledgement from the NHL in the form of a 2 minute PP would've been nice.

You just know a Leafs player will make this exact same hit later in the season (McCabe most likely) and it'll result in a major penalty and a suspension.

That's what winds Leafs fans up imo.

assuming a posture that made head contact on an otherwise full
body check unavoidable.
(iii) Whether the opponent materially changed the position of his body
or head immediately prior to or simultaneously with the hit in a way
that significantly contributed to the head contact.
48.2 Minor Penalty – For violation of this rule, a minor penalty shall be
assessed.
48.3 Major Penalty – There is no provision for a major penalty for this rule

Charging from blue line in when nobody is even by nurse and nailing his head is the same? Reaves was absolutely as predatory as can be.
