Which would you prefer to see as a fan if only one option possible?

Option A-
Matthews scores 50+ in each of next five seasons, wins multiple Rockets and even a Hart, but leafs don’t make a Stanley Cup final.

Option B-
Matthews fails to score 50 goals or PPG in any of the next five seasons, but the leafs win one Stanley Cup.

I would kill for even a series win let alone a cup.

I agree. I have had some supposed hardcore “fans” suggest to me here that they’ve been waiting a lifetime for starpower and it may be more enjoyable and satisfying than winning ugly.

Unfortunately the Leafs players have were taught to care more about option A and when option B isn’t the number 1 thing that you are thinking about the numbers also go away.

It's the Toronto Maple Leafs. Not the Toronto Auston Matthews. While its cool to see individual accolades for players you like, you cheer for team sports to win titles. The only logic for option A is if you don't care about the Leafs and have Matthews in a dynasty fantasy league. I own Matthews in a fantasy hockey league (non-keeper) that heavily values goals. If he didn't score a goal the rest of the year but Leafs won the cup I'd gladly lose the $50 I put into that league and finish dead last.
