With the 10 point lead and the Jets magic number being 10 now it is likely safe to safe we will win the West.

I think Utah would be the easiest matchup by far and probably the least likely. Next would be Vancouver who still has some really good players that could cause us issues like Hughes but I think we could take them over 7 games. Then Calgary which the major issue there would be running into a hot goalie in Wolf. St. Louis is next and they still have a big solid defensive team when healthy. Last is Minny who when healthy are incredibly quick and lethal.

I feel like Utah has played us pretty well. I think we could beat any of them, but my choices would be in order:

Vancouver
Utah
Calgary
Minnesota
St. Louis

Binnington scares me a bit because he has the ability to get really hot as we've seen.
Vancouver in my mind just can't score or prevent enough in a series to win
Minnesota is below Calgary simply because of their propensity for dirtiness, and they have some dynamic scoring
Utah works really hard and has good structure but I don't think they have the horses

I prefer teams that are sinking in the standings and aren’t playing well Currently that’s the Wild. I feel like Wolf and Billington might play out of their minds in the playoffs and steal a series and prefer not to face any hot goalies

Picked the Wild...but honestly don't care. Jets don't need to be afraid of any team. They can beat anyone any given night.
And I don't buy the "playoffs are different" narrative.

This team learned lessons the last two years... you can see it ."You have to learn to lose so you know how to win" or any of the hundred other ways it's said...

2 years ago they had a great start dragged in the later half, and slid down the standings and got bounced..... last year they fought the reg season and were strong downt he stretch ..still got bounced in 5...BUT

the Jets learned last year... they faced a big speedbump in a year they expected to win...it pissed them off to a man...and if you look at thier record this year...the winning streaks, the comebacks, the must have wins, the domination end to end.....

Nobody wants to see the Jets in the playoffs, nobody. no matter what the experts say, no matter what the players say on TV, NOBODY want's to have to walk into the Whiteout this playoffs and face this TEAM.

Looking more and more that it will be either St. Louis or the Wild. Give me Minnesota, I never get tired of their tears filling their 10,000 lakes.
Plus the Wild are sitting at a -8 all strength goal differential, which seems to be one of the best gauges of a team at this point in a season (St Louis is +15)

Oh, and f*** Hartman

It would be great to see the Wild collapse. Flames are 6 back 2 in hand. Their schedule this week is Dallas, Edmonton, Colorado, while Wild have Washington and the Jersey back to back.

So will be hard to make up ground. April will be the battleground.

Have to think the Jets came out lucky pulling victory against the jaws of defeat against St. Louis last time they met. Those 4 points they earned back to back with last minute goals sure looms large now in the race.

Since February 12 (4 Nations begins) potential Wild Card Team records.

1st. St. Louis Blues 13-0-0-2=28 pts / .824 winning % / +32 goals (best record in NHL)
-injuries include Buchnevich (ill March 27), Parayko (knee April 17), Krug (ankle season)
-clearly St. Louis is hot, took us out in 2019 & have Team Canada Gold Medal goalie in Binnington.
-head to head Jets 2-1 (3-2W, 4-3W shoot out, 1-4L)
-Thanks you but no. of the 5/ 5th

12th. Calgary Flames 8-4-0-3=19 pts / .633 winning % / -2 goals
-injuries include Backlund (UBI March 27), Mantha (knee season), Kirkland (season)
-head to head (5-3W, 5-2W, 1-3L)
-Dustin Wolf can be a game stealer (somebody call .911, 3 shutouts)
-back to where it all began with the "C of Red" vs "The Whiteout"
-Don't mind this matchup. Of the 5, 3rd. Flames are my most hated team in the NHL.

14th. Utah Hockey Club 8-5-0-2=18 pts / .600 winning % / 0 goals
-injuries include Bortuzzo (LBI March 30), O'Brien (LBI April 12)
-likely the worst starting goaltender in Vejmelka (.905)
-head to head (3-0W, 5-2W, 2-5L)
-Jets 1.0 vs. 2.0? Would hate to see that franchises jinx broken with a win over us. Not gonna happen tho. Of the 5 would most rather play them, but it's mathematically improbable at this point.

20th. Vancouver Canucks 7-8-0-1=15 pts / .469 winning % / -7 goals
-injuries include Chitin (concussion April 2), Hollander (undisclosed April 2), E. Peterson undisclosed April 2), Juulsen (groin season)
-Lankinen has one of the worst sv% of all starting goaltenders (.901) despite having 4 shutouts.
-one of last seasons best "flip the switch" come playoff time?
-head to head (6-1W, 2-6L)
-Of the 5, 2nd

22nd. Minnesota Wild 7-8-0-1=15 pts / .469 winning % / -13 goals
-injuries include Chisholm (LBI March 27, Foligno (UBI March 27), Eriksson Ek LBI April 6), Kaprisov (LBI April 6)
-Minnesota may be trending down, but have key players set to return in 2 weeks. Gustavsson has the potential to steal a series. I do like the fact it's a short commute allowing the Jets maximum rest going into round 2.
-head to head (4-1W, 2-1W, 5-0W)
-Would rather face someone else. Of the 5, 4th

So for me it goes (present odds to make playoffs in brackets) Utah (3%), Vancouver (15.1), Calgary (33%), Minnesota (88.2), St. Louis (61.6).

With Utah & Vancouver nearly out of the picture, I'd suggest it's in the Jets interests to be cheering against Minnesota who are about to play 5 games in 8 days all against playoff teams (Vegas, Dallas, Washington & back to back against New Jersey). Flames just played the Kraken & now face Stars, Oilers & Avalanche.

Looks like an exciting end to the season! Choose Calgary as Utah is getting close to being mathematically eliminated.

Great take. St.Lou and Col have the best records since the end of February. I agree the Jets could get goalied by either Binnington or Wolfe.
