Which teams need a rebranding?

I like this.

How would Islander fans feel about a name change? Not the Islander part, but breaking away from the NY. Rangers with Brooklyn to separate the two.

"Brooklyn Islanders"

Gives them a brand of toughness they have become. IMHO

Im no Islanders fan but that name just seems redundant. It's like Los Angeles Lakers or Los Angeles Dodgers. It doesn't really carry over and we only accept those names now because we're used to them, 50 years later.

Who cares if it's plural or not? And pretty simple does not equal good or even interesting.

Should the Avalanche change their name to the Colorado Snowslides just to meet the "plural or it sucks" standard?

well, for starters, a team name needs to be a thing - being plural sure helps. (I think the first team to take on this stupid tradition of lame names was the Orlando Magic, and it has gone downhill from there)

And yes, the name "Avalanche" does suck! as do the nicknames Avs or lanch

I like the name as well as the Avs.

And who the heck calls the Avs "lanch"?? Certainly no Avs fans where I live

The Wild is a thing. It's multiple things, it's everything...just not a singular cute little animal that fits perfectly in a box that you can add an "s" to the end of.

A better example of redundancy is if they were to rename the team the Long Island Islanders.

I don't know the exact reasons why, but I assume the Lakers and Dodgers both kept their respective names to either create an alliteration with Los Angeles, or as a giant middle finger to Brooklyn for not giving them the stadium they wanted to replace Ebbets Field.

I hope the Sabres make a 3rd jersey based on the badass buffalo city flag.

So that's where the Lightning got their new logo from...

Kings logo is just plain nauseating. Luc is the force behind it and someone has to set him straight.

At least tonight they will wear their throwbacks. Even in gold, it's much better than what they have now.

Minnesota Things? :D

nah, johnny canuck is the shiz.

the older crowd (me) tend to like it for the history and relevance.

young whipper snappers like you prefer the orca.

at least vancouver fans have access to purchase whatever logo they want.

the millionaires V isn't bad either. but then again, i'm old.
I didn't know older guys use the term, 'the shiz?' Anyway, your point is nonsense. What does this have to with our ages? Did you poll all Canucks fans' preferences and their ages? Your post is absurd.

Why was it necessary to point out that a 5-year old could come up with a stick in the rink? Did that serve you well in proving your point, in trying to diminish mine? I didn't say i loved the stick in the rink logo, or even that i thought it should be used; just that, aesthetically it's an ok logo.

And of course the Bruins logo is a classic logo, that's my point, which you're missing. It's an iconic logo that represents the team and the city regardless of what the team's nickname is. The Orca as a concept, regardless of WHY it was initially used, fits the team and the region well. The logo itself is executed pretty poorly, but the concept is a good one. A hell of a lot better than simply slapping a maple leaf on there because it's Canada. Perhaps every team in the states should just plop a bald eagle into their brands, because it's America?
Yes, it was necessary. I like simplicity, too, but at least, be creative. There are simple yet clever logos for NHL teams. I don't think the stick in the rink is/was one of them.

That one or the Orca logo for the 'Nucks will never be considered a classic or iconic logo. Period.

It's a shame they won 2 Cups in that monstrosity. Now it'll never go away.

wow ive never seen that before its cool - are there a lot of dutch people in Buffalo?

I don't think there are a lot of Dutch people. The lightning bolts are because we were one of the first cities with widespread electricity (pan am exposition). The boat in the harbor is for Lake Erie. The boat on the bottom is for the Erie Canal.

The crest could be the seal of the city, with lightning bolt shoulder patches.

Big fan of that Coyotes concept. My only change would be to replace the 3rd jersey logo with:
