Which teams are bound for mediocrity over the next 5-6 years?

I'm confused by CGY's roster I get that the huberdeau trade was a flop but I don't know what they are trying to accomplish. It's like a team specially designed to finish 17th overall.

Well then you are not paying close enough attention.

We are sitting on 20M in capspace... the team was designed to have a tougher season than it is, but sometimes young players have a different say in the matter. I am not going to sit here and complain about having a 23 year old franchise goaltender in between the pipes. We have amassed plenty of draft capital, completely restocked the prospect pool, and already have more than a handful of young kids making a direct impact at the NHL level. Things aren't nearly as grim here in Calgary as the outsiders want to make them appear.

It's literally Dustin Wolf, teams playing their 2nd string goalies against us, and somehow multiple star players getting injured (Minnesota, Vancouver) the day before games against us.

We were built for 25th-30th but 17th is in our blood

Mediocrity is a team that is neither good, neither bad. A team you expect can probably make the playoffs, but likely always a 1st round exit or borderline missing the playoffs.

Teams that come to mind: NYI, Columbus, Blues, Preds

Can't really count teams like SJS, Blackhawks, Sabres, Wings, since theyre just in a rebuild (some of them a really long one...)
