Love:
1. DeAngelo
2. Fox
3. Buchnevich
4. Zibanejad

Like:
5. Panarin
6. Lindgren
7. Lemieux
8. Kakko
9. Skjei
10. Chytil
11. Kreider - used to be my favorite player but too inconsistent
12. Georgiev
13. Trouba - ignoring contract; also, @EdJovanovski, I respect the concerns you have with him and I think a lot of them are justified, but you have to admit he does allow ADA and Fox to have more favorable matchups and some breathing room to do their thing; that alone is very valuable to me and why I think this team needs him, even though he’s definitely overpaid
14. Hank - would have him in “love” if it wasn’t for those temper tantrums

Neutral:
15. Strome - good player, don’t really like his style and too inconsistent to give a long-term contract to
16. Howden - like Jovo said, he’s a solid 4C and PKer at his age
17. Nieves - used to really like him, but he hasn’t taken any strides
18. Smith - disliked him until he lost 21 pounds and played better; serviceable; plays with heart
19. McKegg
20. Haley

Dislike:
(It’s not that I don’t like these players, it’s that I’m either annoyed with them or annoyed with them being overrated by the fans)
21. Hajek - always thought Rangers fans overrated him
22. Andersson - see Hajek
23. Fast - see Hajek, Andersson; I respect him, but I’m also kind of sick of him
24. Staal - used to be good for us; I don’t like his attitude; I don’t think he was ever close to a “warrior” like Girardi was for us

I don’t hate anyone.

Most people have their biases, players they are higher or lower on than most for whatever reason; what are yours?

Love
Brendan Lemieux
- I don't know if I've ever seen anyone play with as much heart as he does, this guy would get open heart surgery on the bench and not miss a shift. I genuinely believe he'd die for this team at this point lol
Anthony DeAngelo - Perhaps my favorite Ranger, just oozes skill & I think there's an argument to be made that he's as offensively talented as any defenseman in the league. And very few players in that conversation play with the edge that Tony does.
Pavel Buchnevich - What gets lost in such a finesse player is how much All American Grit he has and how he gives it his all every shift. This guy comes to the bench in tears every shift because of all the pain he's fighting through, he tortures himself for this team. I followed his career watching his KHL games when he was the only glimmer of hope in our depleted prospect pool, a (formerly) Russian steal in the draft after our upcoming Russian superstar was stolen from us. I'll always have a soft spot for Buch
Artemi Panarin - One of the hardest paths to the NHL of any player in the league and there's not a better player who could've hit the jackpot he did with this contract. His personality is infectious and Ovechkin-like in the sense of how much fun he seems to genuinely be having out there. He's adorable. Let alone arguable the most skilled Ranger of all time, and he works his ass off every shift and back-checks HARD, always has his stick in the perfect place to strip players of the puck. He's so good. And if he spoke English better he'd without a doubt be the captain of his team.
Henrik Lundqvist - Went from barely being drafted to the face of the franchise and I want nothing more in life than to have his patience finally be rewarded and see Captain Mika step aside and make Hank lift the cup first.
Ryan Lindgren - An absolute prick to play against, stands up for teammates against anybody, great skater and definitely has untapped offensive potential to boot. Supposedly a great personality & leader as well, I see him as a big piece of our team moving forward.

Really Like
Brady Skjei
- IMO the most over-hated player on our team, maybe because our prospect pool was so depleted and we were banking on him being the future 1D because of that rookie season production, but he is the prototype of what you want a defenseman to be in 2019. He's a tank physically, incredible skater, great leadership skills & character, I actually thought was the darkhorse to be the next captain but I'll be crucified for saying that lol
Mika Zibanejad - Incredible 1C who excels at essentially every single aspect of the game, and based on how they came out of the gate FLYING in his first game back, you can see how much he means to those guys in the lockerroom.
Kaapo Kakko - This shy kiddo in a mans body is going to take time to come into his own but he's going to be otherworldly.
Filip Chytil - He was always someone I saw as a bit overrated, until this season. He looks like a completely different player, I also love how cocky he is not caring what people think and cellying even if we're getting blown out
Alexandar Georgiev - Shesterkin is the Prince and Georgiev is kinda the Jester who's filling the role until he's ready. Georgiev is quite the character and does interesting things like throwing sticks at Ovechkin and sprinting out of the net when it was knocked off its moorings to get another player on, he seems like a really smart kid and will hopefully form one of the best goalie tandems in the league in the future. And idk if he just despises the Leafs or why he turns into the reincarnation of Hasek every time he plays them, but I despise the Leafs as well so that's great

Like:
Brett Howden
- He's a very capable 4C & PKer for his age and if it weren't for his deployment I don't think he's be so over-hated by this fanbase. It seems because Quinn gives him more leash than other players, that we give him less leash than other players.
Adam Fox - Honestly reminds me a bit of a defensively sound Pionk, I'm a fan of him but I don't think he's as skilled as ADA.

Neutral:
Brendan Smith
- Awful contract but he's so versatile he could probably fill in for goalie. He doesn't care that he's bounced around the lineup, he just puts his nose down and plays his ass off regardless of his deployment. I think he's really underrated.
Jesper Fast - An okay player who plays hard
Chris Kreider - FRUSTRATING
Greg McKegg - He's really fast and plays hard but has no skill
Boo Nieves - Meh if he's not playing with Kreider

Dislike:
Ryan Strome
- Panarin could get a pylon points, he's an okay player but I hope to God we don't sign him to a big contract.
Michael Haley - We got Lemieux for that
Marc Staal - A warrior & leader for our team but he's finished

Hate:
Jacob Trouba
- Terrible shot selection, mental lapses, and a really bad contract for this time & place.
Other than slight disagreements about Trouba, there’s no poster that I see more eye-to-eye with.

Keeping the "star" players off the list.

Love: Fox

Really like: Lemieux, DeAngelo, Kakko, USA Buch

Like: Russian Buch, Trouba, Georgiev when he does just enough for us to win the lottery.

Neutral: Skjei, Strome (hes growning on me, still dont want to extend him.)

Dislike: Kreider right now

Really Dislike: Haley, Howden, Smith, Nieves

GTFO: Staal.
Damn, nice list. Agree with most of that.

The only player on this roster I dislike is Strome and I’m trying to convince myself that it’s just a pre-conceived bias and he is actually turning into a good player, but despite racking up points I just don’t see a player I like on the ice. I pretty much like everyone else. I think Fast’s role is too big and Hajek is out of his depth for now, but I like them. I still like Staal, I just don’t want him in the lineup. I’m neutralish about Smith. He’s been serviceable this year but obviously I can’t wait til that contract is up. I dislike Haley but... no one should like Haley.

Kreider has always disappointed me. Never really lived up to expectations. Here was a guy, strong as a bull, playing like a snowflake. You think if he was throwing his body around like last night, all the time, he would get misconducts? Does the Great 8 get misconducts? He bangs people into other dimensions! You don't see him getting thrown out of games.

Plus with his strength, you would think he would have better puck control. He is a decent player, but not what he should have been.

Staal is another who disappointed. Sure he became a solid stay at home D-man, but his brothers said he would be better than them. And that is far from the reality. He never showed an offensive skill set that was promised.

One I love more and more each day is Panarin. I think he is phenomenal. This guy never loses the puck being pressured. I am serious. You can count on one hand how many times he lost the puck to defenders this entire season! Watch him next game, and count how many times he loses the puck to his defenders. I'll bet it will not happen the entire game. Never seen anything like this.

Yeaaaah, no, it really isn’t. Not for those of us on the other side, not in the current situation.

But I try to not let that affect my evaluation of a player’s on-ice performance, or my analysis of roster moves/construction.

The fact that you're a f***ing leper because you have a different opinion on the issue is basically what makes society absolutely toxic right now. BTW, come the first Tuesday of November 2020 I'm sure ADA and I will be making different decisions. So no I don't agree with ADA. I just disagree with the absolutely toxic narrative around the issue right now. I don't want to stray into a taboo subject so I'll leave it at that.

I understand where you’re coming from theoretically, but the current environment is different. But as you say, we can’t get into the whys and the wherefores, which would be the only way to really carry this discussion further.

So long as he’s here, I hope Tony continues to play exciting hockey and score tons of points for the team.

This amounts to: 'It's different this time though, because now I'm pissed off.'

Perspective.

No, "it's different this time", because it IS different, based on the facts (which, sadly, I cannot enumerate, because although they are demonstrably true, they are categorized as "politics"). A casual review of the news reported out of any outlet not owned by Fox/OAN will prove this.

And I am indeed pissed off at that difference.

Not to worry, putting this thread on ignore so I won't take us down this path further.
