Not at all because if you take in account let's say both are ''flop'' as their potential
Atleast Wright could still be a really good 2 way player
while Cooley is just a unidimensional aspect and hes like Caufield defensively , absymal.
You have more upside picking Wright over Cooley. Cooley could be a bit more offensive than Wright but on a 200 foot game id rather take the 2 way center 6'1 than the guy that plays on 1 side at 5'10.
Dont get me wrong , Cooley looks good but with the #1 OA you have to pick Wright , It's just a no brainer. He skipped a year and still managed to progress heavily . While Cooley did not miss that year.
Having 2 center than can play both offensively and defensively for a decade looks way too good in my opinion to skip that boat.
"Logan Cooley’s style of play is one which every team in the NHL could use on their roster. He’s an extremely talented two-way forward, and where he may lack in size to some, he certainly more than makes up for it by playing an extremely mature game in all areas of the ice. Cooley can be trusted in every situation, regardless of how the game is playing out. His two-way game is arguably amongst the top of the class, if not already sitting atop the list."
Logan Cooley would offer an element to our team has been severely lacking since the Kovalev days, sprinkle in Vanek and Radulov.
Elite Offensive Skill.
He also fits in nicely behind Suzuki, and I feel that would be a much more lethal combo than with Wright. Add in his competitiveness, skating, puck possession play, and not to mention- consistent play. I feel it would almost be a no brainer to miss him.
Cooley has been playing for the U.S. National Team Development Program.
