J'comprend pas que le Canadien n'ai pas repêché un petit gars de chez nous avec le 1er choix, à Montréal en plus! L'occasion était belle!
- J.I.C or Leroux after the draft.

I'm not as high as some are on Wright, and I still believe that he's easily #1
So does S. Leroux.

I think JiC will be the same.

Can't remember the last time a team went with someone other then the consenus #1,
so the choice has pretty much already been made for the Habs.

Yeah, as we get closer to the draft, I'm hoping we see more threads talking about who will get with the Flames pick, since we know who we're taking 1st overall.

You have to pick Wright but I really hope he is sent back to junior instead of being rushed. It will be tempting to keep him but that can't happen.
At the worst a 9 game tryout.
We will see but I think he will play in Montreal all year as a third line center, mainly. Good way to integrate, unlike KK no pressure to produce right away.

Hischier wasn't really a #1 consensus pick. There's still time for Wright to play in the playoffs but otherwise we might see something similar. As long as they don't pick this year's Nolan Patrick

Was Patrick a clear #1 pick? Can't really remember, maybe well before the draft.

If a team skips over the consensus #1 and that player becomes better then their choice it opens the door for endless second guessing. The pressure to go with that player is huge.

No Patrick wasn't a clear consensus #1. It was considered a weak draft at the time. He was the projected #1 on September of his draft year, but then he just dropped as the year went by.

I'm not drawing a comparison between them, just saying Hischier wasn't a clear #1 that year, and he wasn't a bad pick in the end.

My original point, or the one I was trying to make was when there is a clear #1 consensus pick it's awfully tough for a team not to take that player.

Laval will be stacked next year with Slafkovsky, Heineman, Ylonen, RHP, Guhle, Barron, Norlinder, Harris ect. The farm might be better than the main...

Shane Wright.

It has to be Shane Wright.
(when is the last time we had the chance to draft a CENTER with as much potential as Shane Wright? I can't remember!! Patrice Bergeron/Toews potential).

Go Habs Go!! (pick Wright and we will finally have TWO very-good centers, and not just one....and I like Evans, Dvorak, Poehling for our CENTER depth ; Suzuki, Wright, Dvorak, Evans, Poehling, and even Pitlick can be a CENTER....so this is pretty good center depth...finally!!).
