Without thinking too hard about this, I think I'd definitely take Teppo Numminen and Kimo Timonen over him.

I would strongly consider Kaberle. He could be kind of soft and suspect defensively, but he was amazing at gaining the attacking zone and a better transition and PP defenseman than Ekblad. Would consider Foote as well. He was tough to play against and a better defensive defenseman than Ekblad.

As a Cats fan, every choice except Phillips
I'm leaning this way because it's a career versus career right now but not sure on Redden would have to give it some thought.

Took a quick look, yes to all of those guys, except Philips for Ekblad career to date.

I agree with probably all of them, except Phillips, who didn’t peak high enough. Lots of talk of Redden falling off early but so has Ekblad the last couple years. Redden started falling off after his age 28 season, same age Ekblad is now.
