Can see you're just stat watching...
Watched him in yesterday's game and he did not look great. Looked a bit.. slow? Also not great positioning which is usually his calling card. Goalies are unpredictable but at this point in a 1st round pick's development you'd like to see him be a high-end AHL player at least.

Knies loking like a stud with 7 goals already this season maybe the scale is tipping over to his advantage in this poll?i am especially interested to se if Minnesota is more willing now to trade Wallstedt for Knies? My feeling when i did this poll was they where very close.

So Knies is "looking like a stud with 7 goals" while playing on the Leafs top line?

I mean, Brendan Gallagher has 6 goals on the Canadiens third line (and had one called back on an off-side against Calgary.)

Do you think you might be a little generous claiming Knies is looking like a stud?

He has zero faith in the team in front of him. He's doing too much because of how bad the team is.

I understand what you're saying but on is 22 and the other is almost cooked.

Which is basically my point. Calling a 22 year old playing with elite offensive a players "a stud" for scoring seven goals (and just 9 points in 14 games) seems quite hyperbolic especially when a third liner on the worst team in the league playing with scrubs has 6 goals.

I'm not saying Knies isn't a good player, or won't be a good piece for Toronto, but anointing him a stud with 9 points in 14 games on the top line of what is supposed to be an upper echelon offensive club seems way over the top.

I don't think much has really changed.

Not every player has to project to be a point per game kinda guy. If Knies can someday give you 60'ish points, physical play in the corners and along the boards, and in chip in goals or provide a big presence in front of the net, that's a pretty valuable complementary piece to have in your top six. He doesn't have to be Brady Tkachuk.

I keep the player we have, although with how hard it can be to find a premium goalie, and the Wild having a star in Matt Boldy on left wing, I can't blame them for not doing it either.

Stud is a short word for student on the 1st line :sarcasm:

He's a stud because of how impactful he has been for us, outside of the score sheet.

Agree with your point in general but Montreal has also been playing pond hockey all season and the Leafs have been playing lower event hockey with an injured Matthews.

It’s more than just stats.

He’s a key cog in the machine that is the first line. Not quite as good as Hyman was when he left but similar style of player in that the things he does well don’t show up on the scoresheet but the lines would be worse off if he didn’t do those things.

Kind of like how Lane Hutson is incredibly good at making passes into high danger areas, but the Habs don’t finish them. Doesn’t show up on the scoresheet but the Habs would less scoring opportunities if he didn’t do what he does.

I don’t mind Wild fans saying no, it’s just hilarious seeing the usual suspects insist that Toronto would do the deal. Meanwhile the Leafs have great goaltending depth with Stolarz/Woll and two legit prospects in the AHL and are desperate for any offense outside of the big 4. But they would love to trade a 22 year old power forward who can score for yet another goalie prospect? It was always absurd.

It's not reasonable, goalies take longer to develop and he's only 22.

He has played 16 games since having a season of 45 starts with a 2.70 GAA and .910% in the AHL.

That being said, quite a terrible year he's had so far.

Sure but how good is he going to get, and how much better than Woll if at all will he be? And is the cost to "upgrade" there Knies? Woll is a legitimate starter who turns it up in playoffs, Wallstedt would need to become a top 5 goalie basically year in and out to make him worth upgrading on and I am not sure that happens
