Some players are always mentioned first when discussing a team. Often it's a duo. Which one gives you the most nostalgia? Not from your own team or rival team - pick an unaffiliated team. Left out some of the more memorable combos. Choose 4.

Aww you should make one with duos you remember together. I'd vote on it if I've seen some of the guys.

Rick Nash as a player definitely gives huge nostalgia, especially for team Canada.

But I could care less about Brassard and don't really see them as a duo tbh

I think maybe I got a little over-technical with this, but I don't remember Spezza/Alfredsson or Kovalchuk/Hossa as duos, but rather as trios together with Savard and Heatley respectively.

I voted Suter/Weber, Pominville/Vanek and Giroux/Voracek, and then chose Parise/Zajac as my fourth selection, though I don't think of them as a duo either. They simply got my vote because Parise was one of my favourite rookies in the NHL when I started to follow the league more closley. I liked Zajac too.

Ottawa duo is clearly #1.
Nashville duo is a distant #2.
After those...
Philly and St Louis? Atlanta too, I suppose.

Basically one actually nostalgic duo here for me though.

I feel like the hawks have had so many rivals. I was forced to vote mostly east coast.

I understand why you left out some of the more popular ones but I would love to see a next level matchup from around this era featuring guys like

Toews/Kane
Sedin/Sedin
Ovi/Backstrom
Getzlaf/Perry
And more

Would be interesting to see how that plays out.

Appreciate the encouragement :) yeah, the duos are sort of a mix of either linemates or just players talked about a lot on the broadcasts back then before a matchup. Like headliner bands for a concert.

I think I'll wait a few days and do that one with mostly everyone. I figured Ovechkin/Backstrom and Malkin/Crosby would run away with it so I had removed them and probably too many others I should have included. Also I preferred duos with at least one retired or elsewhere so the penguins duo doesn't really fit. Capitals do though.

Yeah I actually typed out Crosby/Malkin but deleted it. Can’t really be nostalgic if it’s still going.

Personally I think sedin/sedin might win. I can’t vote for them under this criteria though.

I think it'll be close! Keep a look out I'll make one before the season starts. Any more suggestions? A lot of western teams I could use suggestions about. I also realized that Canadian team duos would get less votes due to the rules set. Since Atlanta doesn't exist as a team everyone is free to vote for them lol.

As someone who grew up in the peak of Battle of Ontario era it has to be Alfie/Spez, not close
