Which Canadian Team Will Go the Farthest?

Will the Caps suffer a bit of burnout from all the focus on Ovi chasing the goal record? If so, the Habs could pull it off. And if they do that they may just make the CF.

The Leafs only chance is if they avoid the Panthers, meaning someone has to take Florida out in the first round. Maybe but not likely.

Edmonton was the pre-season pick by many to win it all if I'm not mistaken, but they've underperformed all year. Once the playoffs start though, they'll be a serious threat. I do think though that if they get L.A. in the first round things may go differently this year.

The Jets maybe also coming in underrated after last year's brutal playoffs. Still, they're in a nightmare division. They're good enough to go far but it's not going to be easy.

If Ottawa gets the Leafs they'll make it interesting but the lack of playoff experience (incredibly, only 2 of their top 10 scorers has ever played in a playoff game) will be too much.

My money would be on Edmonton as they likely have the easiest path and they just went the distance last year. After that, maybe the Jets. The rest of the field would get long odds in my book.

As a Leafs fan, I have to begrudgingly admit Montreal is the most interesting team, though also the biggest underdog.

Everyone is expecting the Leafs to crash and burn as usual, expectations seem to be lower for Edmonton this year, Winnipeg has its own Leafs-complex of playoff mediocrity to overcome, and Ottawa, I don’t know, does anyone think they’re a dark horse, or just a happy-to-be-there team?

I’m not feeling particularly glowing over any of their chances at a cup, but I also wouldn’t be shocked to see Edmonton or Winnipeg in the finals.

I assume the leafs will win every year, they looking even better this year.

Being negative is a choice

What Canadian team is going to go the furthest…it will be the team with the hottest goaltender.

Stolarz, Ullmark, Hellebuyck…who will it be.

The Jets....Toronto as usual will do very little.....Montreal might win a series or 2 though....disappointed in Edmonton....thought they would be better.......

No one stands a chance against the Habs, and that's the bottom line cause Stone Cold said so!

In all seriousness, I see a Leafs vs Jets Final and think this is (finally) the Leafs' year.

Good summary. I don't know how many times it needs repeating: What fans expect and what actually happens are two very different things.

It wouldn't shock me to see the Leafs have a strong run - most of their playoff losses have been VERY close. If Matthews is healthy, they have as good a chance as anyone... despite the stories fans tell themselves.

Same with Montreal. Of course they're underdogs, but any real analysis reveals a team that's been top-10 since December. We've seen the Habs defy expectations before.

Edmonton is a proven contender, although getting back to the SCF means beating some western teams that look stronger.

No one can imagine Winnipeg in the SCF until they get there. No clue if this is their year, but it won't depend on what I - or anyone else - can imagine.
I mean, he's been healthy almost every playoffs and been terrible. The reality is if Marner and Matthews are on the same line and team's shut down Marner, they shut down Matthews. And until the Leaf's top players can play like it when it matters and take over playoff games then no, they don't have a good a chance as anyone because we've never seen it. Why should this year be any different?

The first part is possible, but even as a Habs fan I just don’t see them beating Carolina. Such a good team to suffocate the opponent. Not a good match for the Habs.

In 21, we surprised everybody excepts those who likes the predictive power of advanced stats - Habs had been a top tier 5v5 team for 3 straight years. This + Price meant we had a winning recipe hidden beneath the underwhelming results.

I don’t see it this year. We’re have a good 1st and 3rd lines, Lane Hutson, and vibes….not enough
