I think the Rangers go for him, they need leadership and somebody hungry to win a Cup before the end of his career. Plus he solidifies their defense or he has declined too much?
As a Flames fan, I would also love the Oilers to trade assets for him just to miss the playoffs.I'd love the Oilers to get him just to mess with flames fans.

Do it, you cowards.
They'd probably re-sign him after for a multi-year contract too. The Smith special. As a fan of neither team I too would enjoy this

And sign him to a three year contract extension so that Gio has a chance to tell us how stoked he is to be playing in Edmonton.I'd love the Oilers to get him just to mess with flames fans.
GM McDavid doesn't want "Kneeordano." GM McDavid just wants to cherry pick in peace.I'd love the Oilers to get him just to mess with flames fans.
The Flames seem to have moved on and are doing decently without him. There's no reason to trade picks away for anybody right now.Seems weird to say it but I don't think the Flames want him.
Might cause issues with leadership and our defense is set. Ya he's better than Zadorov but there's no pressing need to spend assets to upgrade Zad.

Agree. Bringing people back seldom works. Flames have made it work without him. Save the assets.Seems weird to say it but I don't think the Flames want him.

While I have my doubts about his ability to do so, Francis has to adapt to market changes and adjust his deals accordingly. Unless he wants to get shut out again like did last offseason. To be fair, it'd be really funny if there was no market for him (clearly there will be) and they got him back for like a 3rd and B prospect. Just because of the outrageous ask Seattle had for us to keep him in the offseason.

That would definitely be the cheapest way for the Flames to go.Nope. With Zad playing better of late, we aren't going to spend much to upgrade. If Gio wants to come back in the offseason at a huge discount to play 3rd pairing that's up to him

Probably can't afford him next year and that would be blocking Valimaki again
