Those stats look recent, do you know that there was hockey before this? I know what you're trying to do.
??? I take it that you cannot name a player like that then.

Hmm im trying and its a good argument. A few off the top of my head. May not have been top 5 but for pure GP, up there im sure.??? I take it that you cannot name a player like that then.

Not going to make a list for you, check it out.If you've already done it, why aren't you willing to share your results? How'd you come to the conclusion that players with better careers than Rantanen haven't made the HOF?

lol right. Random 5 years I didJohan Franzen???

The downside about this is usually players who play the most playoff games will have the most points. Patrick Marleau is 53rd all time in points and even the most hardcore of sharks fans would never even think of him as one of the best forwards of all time.lol right. Random 5 years I did
Exactly. I did PPG and some guys are high in their 5 games played so tough to really dissect too far but can at least have a fun conversation with it.The downside about this is usually players who play the most playoff games will have the most points. It comes down to one fanbase being mad at him for asking for a big contract and getting traded and then a second fanbase being even more upset that he wouldn't sign the big contract. So suddenly a guy both fanbases really wanted under contract for eight more years are now mad at the guy and are pretending the guy they wanted to retire on their team is bad.Dude is trending towards a Hall of Fame career, kind of weird the amount of defamatory statements he's enduring.

I think he's looked very good. Dallas has a hell of a lineup when healthy.
How is that even hard? You just google itHard to google something as subjective as that.![]()
Assuming they win this series, I fully expect Rants to go off. COL knows him obviously and have been playing him very well. That's the best part - as good as he's looked already, Rantanen hasn't even seen Dallas at full health yet.

Damphousse, Marleau, Tkachuk, Mogilny, Kovalev, Elias, Demitra, Bondra, Bellows, Muller. And the list goes on.
So if he stopped playing tomorrow you get him in the HOF? That's where we disagree.Outside of Mogilny, none of these players had peaks near Rantanen's (which may not even be over).
You do realize Rantanen just had back to back 100 point seasons including a 55 goal year, right? And that he's got one of the best playoff resumes amongst active players.
He's got one Cup already, there's a fair chance he adds another to that within the next several years (and as the best forward on his team this time), and he's not even 30 yet.
You've picked a strange argument and an even stranger way to argue it. Every box that players typically need to get into the HOF, Rantanen has already checked off most of them.
Maybe what you're trying to argue is that he shouldn't be a first ballot HOFer? There, maybe you've got a point. He hasn't won any major awards and doesn't seem likely to. But his projected career totals and playoff success alone will get him there.
Let’s hope you are correct and he goes off in the next 3 rounds after this one is over on Thursday. He can start by going off on Thursday as well.Assuming they win this series, I fully expect Rants to go off. COL knows him obviously and have been playing him very well.

Lots of players with a better career that aren't in the HOF yet. Not just a few, a lot.

Kovalev has a lot more points and won a stanley cup too.
Read the thread I named a few, the list is too numerous. You made the claim. Nobody has to substanstiate YOUR claim for you... what a ridiculously lazy drive-by, and then they have the gall to say others are baiting them.
I never said he's not going to get in, but he's not there yet. I said he need 400 more points, that should do it?That's an entirely different question and now you're just playing games.
Kovalev has 300 more points in twice as many games. He also didn't have the same kind of gaudy playoff numbers. His reputation plays a role there too, no doubt. Not a great comparison.
He's not going to stop playing tomorrow. And if for some insane reason he did, then his resume is going to be looked at far differently than if he had a full career.
Maybe it'd take longer to get in, but he gets there regardless.
