Seriously people can look up their stats, the exaggeration here is simply mind boggling.

Good thing that you can save your 13 million then.

Another team will sign him and be quite happy no doubt.
Which part the conn smyth by Brad Richards or.... The fact marner has 0 goals in 20 playoff games that occured in games 5,6,7.

Another team that signs Marner for 13 million will not be happy with it they will never win anything of significance.

You have 0 proof or any argument that he will all of a sudden change and get better when the games get tight. He has proven over and over again he cant play in those environments. How many shots did he have in the series after game 3?

Even with that Conn Smythe trophy Brad Richards isn't really an elite playoff performer right?

Or don't you want to micro manage Richards the same way you are doing with Marner?

Richards with the Conn Smythe has this playoff line 146-37-68-105 (-13)

Take out that year and this is his record 123-25-54-79 (-18) GV?TK partial 45/52

To be fair lots of it is when he is older but still the hyperbole is just jaw dropping here.

Here is Marner's resume. 70-13-50-63 (+9) GV/TK 65/59

I don't tend to get caught up on micro managed stats, what was the rest of his performance like in those games, it's not like Marner is a goal scoring type of guy in the playoffs right?

So you want me to prove the future when you are doing it here?

We have different opinions and I won't speculate as to the future team performance in the playoffs but I also won't condemn it out of hand using faulty logic here like you are doing with the Richards comparison.

I don't need any proof, my assertion is that the proclamation of Brad Richards being so much better than Marner is faulty from the start as the gap isn't that wide and Marner was and is the better overall player up to the same age in the NHL even if he isn't the better playoff guy.

You dont like a micromanaged stat only because it disproves your entire argument. But that isnt a micromanaged stat at all. Its a cold hard stat that he sucks when the games mean the most. A large sample size of 20 games.

Richards played in a lower scoring era. Richards playoff numbers only dropped when he played playoff games in his mid 30's in a diminished role. You can look at this objectively or just stick your head in the sand because you want to appear to win an argument.

HE WON THE MVP OF THE PLAYOFFS and won TWO cups.

Yet you discount the player. Marner has had 9 tries and has never got to the third round and has been invisible when it matters most.

I know he's a player many are emotionally charged about, but I would prefer to sign him, let Tavares walk and if cap is still a problem, trade Nylander for a less talented but better fitting forward + pick/prospect type of deal OR similarly valued D.

Nylander is 2nd in the NHL over the past few years in g/60 in the playoffs. Marner has to be close to last over the last couple years and over his career.

Keeping Marner and trading Nylander would not help the Leafs situation. If not for Nylander, Leafs prpbably are swept by Panthers in the second round.
