You Swedes sure are a contentious people.
I’m Canadian. Just commenting on this HF trend of going to lengths to take a shot at a rival team/player while compromising your knowledge of this sport to all other fanbases.

I’ve made this same comment many times to all fanbases, including Swedes. Pathetic is pathetic, regardless of where you’re from, or who you cheer for.

Somewhere in the mix with: Foote, Hejduk, and Landeskog. I’m not going to argue with Avs fans but I think he’s at least clearly below: Sakic, Forsberg, Roy, Makar, and MacKinnon.

1. Sakic

8. Rantanen
9. Hejduk
10. Foote

I’m thinking something like this.

The question we must ask ourselves is would Rantanen clear the insanely high bar of Colorado jersey retirement

He has a cup with them and he has played a season and a half with them so anything is possible

Only if he has a 21 year Hall of Fame career with another team

I voted 5th. I'm considering Colorado only, not Nordiques.

Not necessarily in order, but maybe in order....

Sakic
Forsberg
Roy
MacKinnon
Rantanen
Makar

I have absolutely no problem with anyone swapping Makar and Rantanen. Makar is definitely a better player, I was just being a bit conservative since Rantanen has 2x as many seasons.
With that argument you need to put Hejduk above both of them, which is why I don't like that, Makar is levels above Rantanen. Calder, Norris, Conn Smythe how many does Rantanen in his twice as many seasons?

Forsberg, Sakic, Roy, Stastny, MacKinnon, Makar ahead. So he’s 7th with guys like Landeskog, Goulet, Hejduk right behind

I do think Rantanen is consideraibly better than Hedjuk, so there is that. But - I don't disagree. I acknowledged in my post, I chose to vote Rantanen ahead of Makar for longevity, but the opposite makes a lot of sense too.

And I actually think ridiculously high of Makar, and I could see him potentially reach as high as #1 on this list, above Joe Sakic, by end of his career. He's on an incredbily high potential career trajectory.

Sakic, Roy, Mackinnon, Forsberg, Makar are easily ahead of him. Foote and Hejduk have more tenure but you could argue Rantanen over them based on prime. If I’m going sentimentally probably 9th as I’d have Landeskog over him too. Simply as a player, 6th.

Edit: On second thought, I'd have him ahead of Hejduk either way, so 8th at worst.

Hejduk was the guy I was unsure of heading into the thread. And some people brought up Landeskog and Foote. Hard to make a call on some of these. I'd say around 6th or 7th is fine. No way is he much higher than that.

I'm not counting Nords in the equation.

Avs only:

1. Sakic
2. MacKinnon
3. Makar
4. Forsberg
5. Roy
6. Landeskog
7. Rantanen
8. Foote
9. Hejduk
10. Tanguay

Nords/Avs:

1. Sakic
2. MacKinnon
3. Makar
4. Pe.Stastny
5. Forsberg
6. Goulet
7. Roy
8. Landeskog
9. Rantanen
10. Foote

I'm struggling not to vote '1st' purely because it's actually an option when the franchise has had a top 2 goaltender of all time, a forward who inarguably was the better player the entire time Rantanen played there, plus Forsberg and Sakic.
Is it really worth taking a shot at Swedes while making yourself look so completely foolish and clueless to everyone else in the process?

I understand there’s a rivalry, but pick your spots better.
There isn't a rivalry. A rivalry is two-sided.
