Unfortunately, Rantanen's time in Colorado has come to an end. But he has accomplished a ton in 10 years donning the avalanche jersey.

Here is his all time franchise ranking in statistical categories. Note that this includes Quebec nordiques players.. I'll leave it up to the voter to decide whether nordiques players should be taken into account.

REGULAR SEASON CAREER RECORDS
287 goals, 6th all time, 4th among only Avalanche players

394 assists, 7th all time, 5th among avalanche only

681 points, 7th all time, 5th among avalanche only

+90, 9th all time, 4th among avalanche only

187 EVG, 6th all time, 4th among avalanche only

46 GWG, 5th all time, 4th among avalanche only

0.46 GPG, 4th all time, 1st all time among avalanche only

0.64 APG, 7th all time, 5th among avalanche only

1.10 PPG, 7th all time, 4th among avalanche only players

REGULAR SINGLE SEASON RECORDS
55 goals, 3rd all time, 1st all time among only Avalanche players.

0.67 GPG, 5th all time, 1st among avalanche only

42 EVG, 1st among avalanche only

105 points, 7th among avalanche only

CAREER PLAYOFF STATS

81 GP, 5th all time
34 goals, 4th all time
67 assists, 3rd all time
101 points, 4th all time

PLAYOFF YEAR RECORDS
25 points, 7th all time
20 assists, 2nd all time.

LEAGUEWIDE STATS AND AWARD PLACEMENTS

Goals: 3, 5, 7
GPG: 3, 4
Points: 5, 6, 8, 8
PPG: 6, 7, 8, 8

Hart: 6, 10

So MacKinnon, Sakic, Forsberg and Makar are clearly ahead

I don't think there are any other defenseman with a real argument.

For goalies, I think you gotta have Roy ahead too. He played 2 less seasons than Rantanen but he won a Vezina, and another year as a finalist.

Statistically, was clearly still one of the best goalies as an Avalanche, with sv% finishes of 2, 4, 6, 7, 8, 10.

So among Avalanche only players I think 6th is a good spot.

If we are including the Norqidues, Stastny is a no brainer.

But then there's Michel Goulet who has very similar stat and Hart placements to Rantanen.

Goals: 2, 4, 4, 5, 6, 9
GPG: 3, 4, 4, 5, 6
Points: 3, 8, 8, 9
PPG: 5, 8, 8, 10, 10

Hart: 7, 10.

Goulet if I'm not mistaken, didn't play much with Stastny, and was actually known as a defensively competent winger.

Goulet might actually be the better player.. but the major knock on him is his PO stats are pretty underwhelming 64 points in 66 games. Now whether his performances were actually underwhelming I can't say, Nordiques weren't as strong of a team as Rantanen's avalanche so that may have been a factor.

But Rantanen produced at a100 point rate in the POs.. with 101 points in 81 games. Pretty significant gap, even moreso when you consider Goulet played in the 80s.

So if we're including Nordiques players, his placement only drops to 7th place..

Unless I'm missing someone

is rantanen for sure better than hejduk? on raw numbers rantanen wins but hedjuk had a 50 goal season at like the height of the DPE and Rantanen has mostly played in a league w rejuvenated offensive numbers comparatively
There's a solid argument that Hejduk has the best goalscoring season between them. You could even argue he's the better overall goalscorer..

But Rantanen's overall production widely eclipses whatever small gap Hejduk may have in goalscoring.

Hejduk finished 4th in points once, his next best season points wise is a 21st scoring finish.

Rantanen has been a top 10 point producer for almost 5 straight seasons. missed out in 2021 where he finished 15th in points.. still better than Hejduk's 2nd most productive season.

Assuming we’re talking purely in Colorado, I don’t think there’s any question it’s Sakic, Roy, MacKinnon, Forsberg, and Makar as their Big Five.

I think Rantanen is 6th, in his own tier of “next best”.

Then players like Landeskog, Hejduk, Tanguay, Ozolinsh, Bourque’s very short tenure, and so on follow that.

I think eventually it will look like:

Makar
Sakic
MacKinnon
Roy
Forsberg
Rantanen
Statsny
Foote

Foote is like the Daneyko of Colorado - solid player and heart and soul guy but it's irrational to put him above Rantanen.

I voted 5th. I'm considering Colorado only, not Nordiques.

Not necessarily in order, but maybe in order....

Sakic
Forsberg
Roy
MacKinnon
Rantanen
Makar

I have absolutely no problem with anyone swapping Makar and Rantanen. Makar is definitely a better player, I was just being a bit conservative since Rantanen has 2x as many seasons.

But then there's Michel Goulet who has very similar stat and Hart placements to Rantanen.

Goals: 2, 4, 4, 5, 6, 9
GPG: 3, 4, 4, 5, 6
Points: 3, 8, 8, 9
PPG: 5, 8, 8, 10, 10

Hart: 7, 10.

With Goulet you should also remember that he wasn't just a hockey player with a sweet mullet:

Goulet was one of the few hockey players that was actually really jacked under that hockey uniform:

Rantanen on the other hand has never been all that physically gifted and has always struggled to bulk up:

And it's not looking any better after the trade as @Murzu said he's not following the strict diet that MacKinnon put him on a few years back anymore.

Goulet in todays league with that mullet and jacked figure playing with MacKinnon and Makar would be ravishing...

Mikko will gain 20kg in the summer now when MacKinnon doesn't give him bad eye...

I love @Mulletman

No Forsberg doesn't, compared to Rantanen he choked on playoffs (obviously he didn't really but Rantanen > Foppa ). With Makar it's fine, he'll pass soon anyways if he hasn't yet.
I heard Forsberg sat out two playoff rounds and the Aves still won the cup. But this was the pre twitter era so no evidence exists.

3rd behind Sakic and MacKinnon. Makar catching up soon
Is it really worth taking a shot at Swedes while making yourself look so completely foolish and clueless to everyone else in the process?

I understand there’s a rivalry, but pick your spots better.

Strictly in Colorado Forsberg, Sakic, Roy, MacKinnon are ahead. I'd have Rantanen ahead of Hejduk as 5th.

Makar has a Conn Smythe, a Calder, and a Norris trophy. He's easily ahead of Mikko and Hejduk. Think I'd probably have him ahead of Forsberg too, who I generally thought got a little overrated after he retired.

I'd say 7th or 8th. Very good player and incredible goal scorer but he didn't do as much off the puck as guys like Hejduk or Foote.

Makar has played more than 60 games twice. And even the peak seasons are close. In any case Makar over Forsberg is extreme. Foote was a fine defensive defenseman with many years in town, but all of the above are another tier.

You Swedes sure are a contentious people.
