Where do you think McDavid will fall on the all-time leaderboard for consecutive 100-point seasons?

  • Xenforo Cloud has scheduled an upgrade to XenForo version 2.2.16. This will take place on or shortly after the following date and time: Jul 05, 2024 at 05:00 PM (PT) There shouldn't be any downtime, as it's just a maintenance release. More info here

If McDavid gets 100 points this season, he'll sit alone as teh only player with 4 straight-100 point seasons, behind 12 players with so many being tied at 5 and 6 straight 100-point seasons. There are a ton of players with 3 straight 100-point years, but not 4. The current leaderboard is:

1. Wayne Gretzky - 13
(1979/80-1991/92; Age: 19-31)
T-2. Mike Bossy - 6 (1980/81-1985/86; Age: 24-29)
T-2. Guy Lafleur - 6 (1974/75-1979/80; Age 23-28)
T-2. Mario Lemieux - 6 (1984/85-1989/90; Age 19-24)
T-2. Bobby Orr - 6 (1969-1974/75; Age: 21-26)
T-2. Peter Stastny - 6 (1980/81-1985/86; Age: 24-29)
T-2. Steve Yzerman - 6 (1987/88-1992/93; Age: 22-27)
T-8. Marcel Dionne - 5 (1978/79-1982/83; Age: 27-31)
T-8. Phil Esposito - 5 (1970/71-1974/74,;Age: 28-32)
T-8. Dale Hawerchuk - 5 (1983/84-1087/88; Age: 20-24)
T-8. Jari Kurri - 5 (1982/83-1986/87; Age: 22-26)
T-8. Bryan Trottier - 5 (1977/78-1981/82; Age: 21-25)

Where do you think McDavid will fall at the end of this run?

How can McDavid be 4th if there are 12 others ahead of him?

Dionne and all should be T-8 not 3.

Can’t see him not hitting 100 points in a season for the foreseeable future as long as he has no major injuries and league scoring remains as high as it is.

He's still very young. Assuming health, he's a 110-130 point player every year until his skating takes a significant hit. And even then, he works out religiously so that'll still be for a while. I think he ends up second on this list (again, assuming good health) and a very very outside shot at tying Gretzky provided league scoring stays similar to what it is now.

Pray for his health. It's hard now to stay consistently healthy with how strong all the players are. I'd be very happy if he can get to sixth, tied for second all time.

They hardly hit or slash anymore so that's a good thing if this trend continues.

It's all about health. He could sprain his ankle this week and finish his streak at 3. Impossible to tell. So many of those players on that list would have hit over 6 - starting with Lemieux - without injuries. Gretzky himself would have done better than 13 without injuries.

I’m guessing 9

It’s all about staying healthy. See Crosby, he’d probably stand at 8-9 if it wasn’t for injuries.

swing and a miss

Thanks for the almost 2 minute video that featured a bump on Gretzky in front of the net, being ridden into the boards by his buddy Messier, and the hit that ended Bill McCreary's career. Thank you for proving my point.

I'd be curious how many of those players had their streak of consecutive years snapped due to injury vs due to a decline in play.

McDavid will be putting up 100 points a season without fail for the forseeable future pending an injury. Unfortunately, injuries are a very real possibility for any player. It's impossible to know.

A "bump" is still a hit. You should articulate your ideas better, rather than trying to move the goal posts when you are so easily proven wrong.

Question is really how many consecutive seasons do you think he'll be healthy for, which there's no way of predicting
