Where did Yzerman go wrong with the rebuild?

not necessarily. Without larkin we could’ve been in a position instead of 6-9 to get 1-4

maybe celebrini Carlson Smith Bedard Fantilli instead of kasper and danielson

I have zero faith any changes would have resulted in lottery help. This team sucked, its hard to suck the most in a 32 team league over 82 games.

Would have had to keep Mo and Ray out of the lineup too...

Last season I agree. The bad teams went all out suck. Mo and Ray were good enough that we would still have finished 6th at worst. That said, this team is really bad when Larkin doesn't play.

That is kind of where I am at, I appreciate the complaints because they have great emotional energy coming from a place of wanting the team to succeed, which is what we all want. It's just not based in reality because there wasn't an alternative pathway that would have fixed the issues. It would have much more likely made the issues worse. I am grateful we have a GM that committed to the slow roll. Cheap short term plugs and draft the core. That was the only probable option for success and despite the complaints, its working.

Okay we have Buffalo looking to offload some of their young guys with potential. Vancouver might be moving Petterson.

Too frequently have trades for players that we could use, gone down at prices that I think we could have matched/beaten without us making a move.

If we see Elias Petterson moved at a discount, Dylan Cozens snatched up for a collection of middling assets, Bowen Byram on the move again, etc and we can't get any of these guys, I'd be disappointed. This is a great chance to bolster the rebuild with some talent and shake up a roster that badly needs it.

I mean, we've all wanted Petterson on the wings since he was a 16 year old in Sweden. Now is our chance. Make it happen Stevie Y

4-10-0 last season without Larkin. Carry that for 82 games and they would have tied for last place. Ray isn't doing shit without Larkin, otherwise he'd still be on the second line. The Wings don't have another center that can drive the play, guys like Copp/Compher/Kasper/Raz/Joey/Fish aren't going up against top pair D.

Considering how bad the team is with Larkin this season, if he misses games, this team will get a top 4 pick for sure. A full season without DBoss, and this team is dead bottom.

I like the idea but I still struggle to see an in season move of this magnitude, mostly for cap reasons.

At least 1 of, if not multiple of Copp/Compher/Holl/Chairot would have to be included. If another GM sees some value maybe there is a shot but if they are viewed as poorly as our fanbase views them Id say there is no chance any of this can happen for detroit until the offseason. That's not to say its impossible - I'm just a skeptic anything big happens.

I also think it is important to stay patient. This thing is moving in the right direction so don't make a panic move (not suggesting that's what you want).

No chance of happening and getting both but since Adams is desperate to save his job lol ... just for the fun of it

Cozens and byram for

2025 1st top 10 protected for 2 seasons, unprotected 2027

2027 2nd

Kasper(would suck to lose him) mazur compher wallinder gustafsson(to replace byram leaving)

Sabres are a cap team I believe so they'd be saving some $ if they wanted to make another move

maybe trade wallinder and some new assets for someone else like zegras since they have power dahlin Samuelson on the left side?

Rasmussen larkin raymond
Debrincat cozens kane
Tarasenko Copp Berggren
Motte veleno fischer
Watson

Edvinsson seider
Byram chiarot
Johansson petry
Holl

Prob would have to make another move for a forward for the 3rd line unless we bring up danielson to prepare him for a full nhl season next year

Again no chance this happens , i can see a byram deal being more of a reality than cozens

we currently have $10.4m of cap space at the trade deadline according to puckpedia, which is 77 days away
