Where are McDavid and Draisaitl when it matters?

Getting three solid lines thrown at them while they play 25+ minutes a night.

They're being ground down into a fine powder at this point. Chased around the ice and punished physically. Hard to score when the other team is playing defensively and has the depth to counter your stars.

Obviously Edmonton should have more depth and Winnipeg should be having more trouble, but we knew Edmonton was a bit of a paper tiger going into the playoffs.

His speed and off the rush game needs to be adjusted a bit for the playoffs. I thought he looked great in the first, but got worse and more frustrated as the game went on. Problem is other than Drai the team is terrible so they are draped all over those two. I think they do way better with a semblance of depth on the team.

I know people compare them to the 09 Penguins but that team still had competent role players. Oilers bottom 6 is ahl quality. That said getting completely shut out in both games is worrisome.

Toronto showed earlier this season it could be done. Series ain’t over yet but if say Winnipeg sweeps them and the games are like this then yeah you gotta start questioning that.

It's crazy that McDavid scores two points or more in every regular season game against Winnipeg but can't score against them in the playoffs.
What are the odds this happens... Unless the playoffs are indeed different than the RS.

That's what happens when your top 2 players are dependent on each other. Crosby and Malkin were able to carry 2 lines to back to back finals at the same age as McDavid and Draisaitl are now.

Draisaitl's only capable of cherrypicking and picking up gravy points on the powerplay. Most overrated player in the league. Useless when it matters.
He's a good player, but a great test case of how many points one can score if put in the ideal system to score points. There are Oil fans who think he is better than Malkin was.

McDavid's performance is exactly why I was on the pro-Crosby side in the recent thread about who was better at the same age.

Crosby was turning his game up several notches come playoff time, at an even younger age than McDavid is now. And this was quite impressive when you consider Crosby was also a beast in the regular season.

McDavid can score a million points against a weak North Division, with a half-million points on the PP.

But Crosby at the same age was a better overall player. At 5-on-5, and all the little things that help you win a hockey game.
I love Mcdavid but I thought all the "better then Crosby ever was already" talk was a bit premature.
