No need to be disingenuous. Makar was PPG, won the Calder, and was 9th in Norris voting in his rookie season. Hughes was not far behind and came 2nd in Calder voting behind Makar and received some Norris votes as well. I am not sure why you're so defensive about this, they are all great defensemen but it's clear that Bouchard was and remains a tier or two below those guys before getting his babysitter. If you had to choose any single defenseman in the league to build around, Bouchard will likely be lower down this list than guys who are very strong on both sides of the puck like a Makar, Hedman, Fox, Heiskanen, Josi.
