Speculation: When Does Bruno Get The Boot?

When does Trotz pull the plug on Brunette?

Honestly, I would just like to see us buff up Milwaukee for a deep run in the AHL at this point.

Send enough players back to them to give them a killer lineup again. Go ahead and fill our NHL lineup with waiver pickups. We could have done that with oodles of guys who were on waivers recently... Kaliyev/Sprong/Puljujarvi/Wahlstrom up front, DeSimone/Coghlan/Dermott/Mermis on D, etc. None of them are any different than our current tweeners.

Then demote all our exempt guys plus anybody who would clear to boost Milwaukee. It really isn't going to make any difference whatsoever to the NHL Preds. But FFS, make the Ads a powerhouse again, at least? We're getting the worst of both worlds atm instead.
I couldn't agree more.

Send the youth back down. Pick up random guys or trade 5th 6th round picks for veterans to end their career here.

Like Porter said, he's just been gutting the organization this season. Our injury insurance was all sent out the windows. Then he started chipping away at functional players in the lineup and stripping the Milwaukee roster. I make jokes about finding players in cereal boxes and diaper bags, but it's almost that surreal objectively. He's expecting to "find guys" in the middle of the hockey season without any loss in skill? How? I mean WTAF?
Yeah what's happened to our depth in the matter of a couple of months is insane. Milwaukee looked like they would be a solid team that was probably going to be iffy on the goaltending front. Now? I honestly feel bad for Taylor trying to hold that thing together.

I wanted Tulsky. When they hired Trotz instead I said I’d give him a chance. I liked the offseason pickups and thought they would actually make the team better. That has turned out to not be the case. My biggest issue is that Trotz doesn’t appear to know how to properly correct course after seeing he made a mistake.

Brannstrom has a good pedigree and underwhelming NHL career. I'd take a flyer on him and send someone down.
The only slight catch is that Wilsby and Stastney are the waiver exempt D, and to be fair, they both look like they are ready to stick in the NHL. Assuming we wouldn't be waiving Blankenburg anyway. I guess it just depends on what the Preds are planning to do when all the D are healthy again, or what the timeline might be on that? If they are ever going to have Stastney or Wilsby parked in the pressbox, then they might as well be helping in Milwaukee instead.

Got 6 dmen with Lauzon and Wilsby on IR. Personally, id love to trade Lauzon and Schenn and grab Brannstrom as a 6/7 to switch in and out with Barron/Blankenburg if they have a couple off games in a row. We are incredibly thin on young RHD so might be worth a look.

Absolutely, if we could trade Lauzon and Schenn then that would solve everything quite nicely.

But since we have maybe a 4 in 10 (or is it up to 7 in 10 now?) chance of getting back into a playoff spot, I guess Trotz is going to hold off on trading any core leaders like Lauzon and Schenn. They are also key to keeping our hit stats up there. Maybe he thinks the 23rd tie-breaking criterion for the final Wildcard spot comes down to hits? If we trade Lauzon and Schenn, we lose that tie-breaker! Then we'd look REALLY stupid. :sarcasm:

I think we can lose a maximum of 9 more games the rest of the season. We can almost be statistically eliminated by the end of the month. Just need our fellow bottom feeders to embarrass us.

When I played high school hockey, our coach would tell our worst players to dump and chase, because a forecheck was a higher success rate play than passing through the neutral zone.

That appears to be the ONLY zone entry strategy Bruno employes. Not a good sign for either his creativity or his opinion of our passing

It's the worst. In my opinion, that's what ultimately let to Hartley getting fired in Atlanta years ago. The dude ran out of ideas and just did the dump 'n chase for a season and a half. Led to more losses and apathetic/bored fans.

So now that the season has progressed alot and we still suck, i think it is time to revisit the question.

When does Bruno get fired?
After 2 more seasons.
Well, he's pretty clearly going to get a "bye" for this stinker season.

Unless Trotz really does think the team has a 4 in 10 chance of making the playoffs, and ends up shocked when we don't actually make it, causing him to revise his thinking in the summer?

But I don't think Brunette will get as long a leash next season? Clearly Trotz is still expecting immediate results, he sort of has to with this veteran-laden lineup. I'm not optimistic that Brunette will suddenly change his approach, or that our team is capable of improving dramatically, however. So I would anticipate a similar start to next season, and therefore Brunette gone before December 1.

I hate to beat a dead horse, but we will be in this position for quite some time because of the amount of miscues by Trotz. Haslam is now part of an ownership group vying for a WNBA team. I don't believe his interest in the Predators will be in the best interests of the team. He needs to dump Barry and Bruno, dispose of Saro's before the new contract, and hire a real experienced GM.
