Bruno makes me miss Hynes, who is unbelievably coaching a winning team. It can’t be a coincidence that most players and coaches that move on to another team succeed. After Bruno gets fired, he will go win a cup somewhere else. I wish I could put my finger on what is rotten in Nashville, but my suspicion is the over reliance on our D, especially Josi, to generate offense. Every coach seems to try and use him as a centerpiece of the offense, but the result is usually a lot of perimeter shots hoping for a tip in or a rebound. It’s not a good strategy because if Josi isn’t getting points, then the team is losing.

I don't know how I feel about Taylor. He's had good results in the standings but he hasn't gotten the majority of the kids ready for the show, which should be his main responsibility.
I mean just about every guy that has come up plays well right off the bat, it's after they get 7-10 minutes a night or they don't play at all that they seem to struggle. Frankly the further away from Taylor's coaching they get, the worse they get.

Tolvanen had issues with Hynes, Stastney did well he just got injured. Parssinen, Tomasino, Evangelista, and Novak all did pretty well when they first came up. Even Del Gaizo wasn't bad to start with.

I don't think the issue is Taylor, I think the issue has been our choices at coach.

We'd probably hear something soon if it was going to happen before the Winnipeg game right? I'm assuming they'd do it today to give the team tomorrow for practice with new/interim coach.

I really don't know what more Trotz can wait for. It may not be Bruno's fault in that the team isn't exactly built for his system, but it's clearly not working.

Maybe not at the start of the season but he hasn't adjusted at all. Still gives all the ice time to the underperforming vets, just as he did at the start. Good coaches adjust their systems on the fly.
Depends on the type of coach. A rah-rah/motivational coach may have more ability to adapt and be successful, because they aren't married to specific system requirements. Bruno very much seems a systems coach, and you pretty much eliminate the need for a system coach if you don't build a roster that suits their requirements--you wouldn't hire June Jones and then build a roster with a quarterback that can't make quick reads and hit timings and is instead built around power running and defense.

I just don't think most NHL coaches that run any type of consistent system are capable of adapting to an ill-fitting roster. I don't think most NHL coaches are capable of making large adjustments at all.

Do agree about the ice time deployments though. I am wondering if that is really a Bruno thing or a "we paid Stamkos/Marchy $13M to come here and promised them major ice time" thing.

The Brunnette quote about benching Vange is unhinged.

Bro. You iced the wrong starters! Maybe we should bench you a game and see if your effort level is better.

Also, how did NONE of the assistants notice? How did the other team notice and our staff didn't?

If you want to know what's rotten, it's continued reliance on Poile's guys. It's been Poile's guys for years now. A new direction is needed. Clean the front office out.

Guess who said it:

"All in all, you feel pretty good about the road trip, obviously would’ve liked to get something out of tonight, [but we] go back home and keep trying to build our game here"
If you feel good about that road trip, then they need to be removed from the team.

In 5 games: (rank over that timeframe)
1 win (tied in last with 3 other teams that only won 1 out of 5)
40% points% (22nd)
25.4 shots/game (27th)
32.4 shots against/game (28th)
1.80 goals for/game (29th)
2.80 Goals against/game (18th)
5 5v5 goals for (tied dead last in 5v5 goals for / game)

PP (18.2% - 15th) and overall defense were mid
PK (93.8% - 3rd) was top notch
Everything else is bottom of the league garbage.

Saros played well atleast

Delusional.

I don't feel good about it. Consistently garbage play with a blip here and there to confuse the EEG monitor into thinking there was a sign of life.

Dunno where he heard it but a guy I work with came in and said he heard that if we lose the Jets game Trotz is pulling the plug on Brunette.
Ran this rumor by my buddy who works in the building, but not directly involved with the team. He said it's the same rumor going around they've all heard and the feeling in the building is bleak.

Hard to have high moral when the on ice product looks this bad. It is one thing to be losing games due to bad bounces but the team overall looks decent.... this team just doesnt loon good
