When did you find out Kucherov was the real deal?

What was the moment that made you tip your hat to Kucherov?

You always been a hardass towards any Tampa player, but you gotta give Kucherov his flowers at some point. You gotta, man
That's true, in my dreams.

Kucherov has this reputation as a very smart player. He's primarily a playmaker, but he can definitely shoot too. Keeps the goaltender and defense guessing.

Stamkos? What a player. Nothing but good things to say about him.

Point? Don't know well enough from watching to comment on, but glad he plays for Canada as a good goal scorer.

St. Louis and Lecavalier? I'm not positive, but even Calgary should have won.

Triplet line I alternated who I liked most but the more they played I realized it was Kuch and not Tyler Johnson who was individually best against the Rangers.

That was level one.

Level two on his present day dominance was his playoff series against us. He was incredible.

2015 Playoffs (Triplets Line domination) --> 2016 playoffs and his production with key figures like Stamkos injured --> The 2016/17 Regular Season (2nd in goals, 5th in scoring). I could say even earlier considering he kept setting up guys routinely and his overall game sense, vision, IQ and passing were all next level, but those 3 seasons made me realize he was the next big superstar on the horizon. Playoffs + RS Monster

The next 2 seasons (2017/18 and 2018/19) weren't even shocking IMO.

As soon as when he played in the QJMHL in 2013 with the Huskies in Rouyn-Noranda.

He had franchise player written all over him in my point of view, especially in the playoffs. Too bad he was alone on that team. He was like an NHL player playing with a bunch of scrubs, future cooks and cleaners at that time.

He was a beast in NHL 15 and almost always ended up as a perrenial 100+ pt player during 25 year simulations, same with with Viktor Rask but Kucherov actually made it.
Yep, that's what I was here to say. My friend and I used to pick him up in fantasy drafts every year and he became a superstar player every single time. They also called him "Backman" in the play-by-play at one point for some reason, which we thought was extra funny lol.

When Kucherov, Palat and Johnson were first coming up with Tampa, I was like why are these guys the Triplets?

When the triplets line became a thing you could tell Kucherov was more than a few steps above the other two.

2015 Finals was when I first really noticed his skill, as a Blackhawks fan I watched every game and it was clear that he was just getting started.

I think it was 2013 World Juniors. I remember watching a couple of games from him, he just looked like he was so far ahead of everyone else whenever he was on the ice

For me, it was 2011 U18s that made him pop on my radar, but that's no indication of potential superstar in the NHL. His willingness to come over to NA and play in Juniors was another bump up. The way he played against Roy's Remparts (after being traded by Roy)...24 points in 14 games that playoffs as well. That performance showed me he had a chip on his shoulder and "took it personal".

I have to call BS to the people suggesting they knew he was the real deal when he played U18 or when he played in the Q. U18 for example, yeah, put up great numbers, but does anyone really look at that for guys his age? Or even his year in the Q....at the same age he was playing the Q, Crosby was winning the scoring title in the NHL. Guys his age don't play U18, generally, not the star players anyway. I think Gavin is playing this year is he? But that's still a guy a year before his draft year, Kucherov was there the year of his draft year. Crosby only played there 2 years before his draft year.

In terms of the highlighted part, I didn't watch the Q that year, but was he really alone on that team? He had 53pts in 27 games, but Andrighetto had 98pts in 53 games and Dea had 85pts in 68 games. I didn't check Dea, but in the same 27 games that Kucherov played there and scored 53pts, Andrighetto had 57pts. Not at all suggesting Kucherov wasn't the best player, maybe he was, maybe he wasn't....didn't see any of them play then, but he certainly wasn't alone.
