For once we can’t blame the goalies. They did their job.
The confusion is because you said Rangers camp, so most assumed New York, not Kitchener.Rangers originally draft Hage but he never signed. They traded his rights to Barrie I believe.
well we left our goal scorers at home, so its not surprising at all.Canada had zero players among the top 30 scoring leaders (goals and assists) in this WJC tournament.
Sweden have 9, USA:7: Czechia:7.
Surprisingly. Would have expected at least one player stepped up.
IIHF - Statistics 2025 IIHF WORLD JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP
Who hasn't ?So what, has he won the Stanley cup every year since he started playing in the NHL?
It’s all just so damn frustrating!Hockey Canada executive Scott Salmond says "the buck stops" with him.
The country's men's under-20 team was eliminated from the world junior hockey championship in the quarterfinals for a second straight year Thursday.
Salmond, the program's senior vice-president of high performance and hockey operations, added he's "incredibly disappointed" and "apologetic" after Canada lost 4-3 to Czechia.
Watching TSN broadcast continue to carry water for Hockey Canada hints at another part of the problem.
In the post game, they spent more time blaming the officials and the players than management.
It's a total echo chamber, and I imagine Hockey Canada brass likely surrounds themselves with sycophants like Bob McKenzie who will look to blame anyone else but HC. Until that stops, don't expect something to change.
What’s the deal with that? Punishing players who “defect” and play in the states?Stop ignoring college players would be a start. Michael Hage is right there with Hagens and Leonard for points but never even got a camp invite as it’s all predetermined - also only 6 PIMS…
You can talk about player selection and coaching and it may be a valid excuse but Canada isn't the dominant power in hockey anymore and in a bad year like this one, better coaching and a player or 2 may have gotten them to the bronze medal game.
Probably you don't want too many frail guys you aren't sure will produce, the lack of practice and adjustment hurt them. Could've won with better luck and should've with better coaching. Why not? You really think they would've done worse?
Also needed more offense from the back end. Parekh and Yakemchuk. TC went overboard on conservative, defensive, lesser talented players in the name of team chemistry and team roles, but it looks pretty silly in retrospect, when nothing clicks, and the teram takes a bunch of penalties.
I don't want to single out any one player - the team was less than the sum of their parts, while teams like Latvia, Germany, CZE were the opposite. That points to an off ice problem.
Politics for sure also too much emphasis on pre-U20 HC experience, some players decline and some breakout after U17/18sWhat’s the deal with that? Punishing players who “defect” and play in the states?
Lmao, so Canada can bring McDavid now,If Czechs got players from NHL like Pastrnak, Necas, Chytil etc they would also easily win, see how stupid your argument is? This thread is getting really annoying, you behave like sore losers.
You would have been better off having Allen Iverson coaching this team. His comments on practice were less absurd.Management and team selection is the biggest problem including cameron who should not be coaching.
I found this gem in the aftermath though.
LOL focusing on knees. The first call was not a kneeing penalty. Probably was an elbowing penalty. Your guy faked an injury and got the call. This is getting annoying really annoying, only thing this canadian team was able to do was focusing on knees, when getting their butt kicked. And that TSN commentary what a bunch of losers, absolutely pathetic, not to mention that faux pas with czech flag.
Curious - do you have a roster you would put together if you were naming the team? They left too many good players off the roster.
They can twist it all they want but this was called as soon as the roster was announced. No, it was not "hindsight" as Bob tried suggesting on TSN. A majority of fans were saying it instantly.
Let's assume the roster selections were fine. What kind of coaching was that? Cameron misused his players and didn't even get the best out of the assets he had.
Just bad across the board.
They need to start picking the best players and choose a better coach. Look for coaches that can handle stars and know how to get them to buy in. That's a lot smarter than bringing in lower quality players.
You must be new here, that's be going on for 30 years. What’s the deal with that? Punishing players who “defect” and play in the states?
I am , I figured as much but I try not to assumeYou must be new here, that's be going on for 30 years.
Neirther did Canada. They win easily with the players that are in the NHL.
Instead of picking the best players, they seem to want to pick a team handicapped by a salary cap, if that makes any sense.
They try to get grinders for grinding positions without realizing that superstar talent is better at grinding in a short tournament like this.
The top players can play a 4th line role better than a 4th liner for a 5 game tournament.
Should always be picking BPA and then make your lineup from those players.
You're better off having an Iginla or stone on your 4th line than a Maltby or Draper on your 4th line even if stone or Iginla would never play a grinder roll in the NHL is that makes sense.
