You cant deny most here talk a lot of crap about thim, based on very little. Just check that rant by Whiskeypete. It cant be better than that.

People here love to talk about how little we really know with whats going on behind the scenes in the cases regarding Richards, Voynov whoever. However, with Prokhorkin we suddenly act differentely. He's a money grubber with a bad attitude in the far East.

Granted we don't have all the answers. What myself and others are speculating on are the facts involving the situation. The most significant of which is he has demanded a NHL roster spot, or he isn't playing in NA. When he doesn't (and shouldn't) get it he signs contracts to remain in Russia and play in the KHL.

The next fact is that he is dropping down the prospect depth chart, because he isn't in NA and playing with and against competition the other prospects are facing. Without being willing to "put in his time" at the AHL level (or ECHL if needed), the Kings dev staff and coaches have a damn difficult time trying to figure out where he slots in. Let alone is he ready for the NHL.

The last significant point but is speculation, is just where/what his demand has done to his relationship with Dean. DL has a system and it is a proven system based on the amount of homegrown talent has moved through the system to LA and other NHL clubs. Whether Porky or you want to accept it are entirely up to each of you. IMO, I can' t imagine his demand has gone over well with Dean. He is a guy that preaches team first, not the individual.

If he is that great of a player, then Dean would bring him over to play in LA. He would have done that years ago if the kid had the talent. The fact is he hasn't which means the kid has holes in his game and will be exposed at the NHL level. If he is unwilling to come here and work on those adjustments then so be it, but it won't be at the NHL level.

Its hilarious isn't it?? All heresay and BS. My favorite might be that he is unwilling to play in the AHL....when he already did for the Kings!!! Prokhorkin is the Kings second best prospect and is treated like some nobody.

Don't know why he isn't in camp this year fighting for a spot. He'd be competing with Lewis/Weal/Shore for 1 of 2 open spots at center. Seems like if he were serious about playing for the Kings he'd be over here this year.

T-H-I-S

Prokhorkin is having a solid season so far, and who compares him to Shefer has really no clue about him.

Okay then, let's compare him to Loktionov, a guy who had so much hype as a sure fire NHL prospect according to many. Where is he now?

You guys with your silly expectations...

he's a good prospect and he has all the tools to become a NHL player IMO. Let's see how he will perform this season in the KHL, I'm not saying he'll be soon in LA but it's a bit early to write him off.

I don't think anyone is really trashing his potential, just that he's clearly stagnated, because he's in Russie he isn't able to work with the Kings' development team, and that there's no way he goes straight from KHL to NHL. Rock and a hard place and he's not nearly talented enough for DL to say "okay you can skip the AHL."

I agree. I like Prokhorkin's potential, but he's really not doing himself any favors by eliminating the AHL as an option.

Kopitar's the only European during DL's tenure who hasn't had to at least show he can cut it in the AHL, and that's because Kopitar was one of the best players in the organization at the time. Unless Prokhorkin comes to training camp and wows them, he won't get that same luxury.

I'm sure the khl is paying him much more then the ahl would. If I were hin I'd do the same thing, play in the khl until the nhl guarantees you a roster spot... makes sense to me. We should have good enough scouts to figure out if he's good enough for our NHL team.

Prokhorkin recently mentioned that he is making around 450k USD this year without bonuses. Not a huge money, but still more than AHL, especially considering Russia's 13 percent tax rate.
