Cliffy, Greener, and Willy, they were soon to be castoffs just weeks ago, now they are playing like Stanley Cup Champions (note: need 1 more win). Cliffy with his forechecking and presence and oh so clutch goal in game 1. Greener clearing the crease. Willy finding a way to put the puck on net through traffic. Wow. They will be due new deals this summer. How many do you think will be resigned? I say 2 will be here come next camp, but who knows, with the way they are playing, Deano might just want to bring back all 3 as a reward for their much improved play at the most important time. But I'm guessing the Islanders will want to pick off one of Greener/Willy, as they really don't want to miss the playoffs next year not having their 1st rounder in '15.

Might be the quality of the opponent. None of these guys were doing anything up until this series.

Greene might get a hat trick tomorrow night if reports that the Rangers are disconsolate are true.

The Rangers are the weakest team the Kings have played in the playoffs, that has a lot to do with it.

The Kings fourth line could literally do nothing right against Chicago and in this series they have been on the ice for I believe three goals in three games and largely controlled the play when on the ice.

It's really simple. The Rangers are not SJ,CHI,ANH, not even close.

Cool responses, you all take the weaker opponent approach. I have been so impressed with their play that I didn't think of that. Interesting. Well we still have 1 more win to go, as the old saying goes, it ain't over till the fat lady sings.

What happened to Kopitar?
It is just one guy goes down another steps up.
This is a team not just a collection of players.

I'm actually most surprised by Clifford, but yeah, all 3 have stepped up throughout the playoffs and not just against the rags imo. Sure they had their share of bad games, but for the most part, they've been good to very good.

For Clifford I'm thinking he has extra motivation from being on the sidelines most of 2012. He didn't want there to be a reason for him to sit this one out, and he's been great.

The fourth line (or what used to be the fourth line, the combo of Lewis, Clifford, and Richards) has been dynamite in this series. Richards has been a beast in games 2 and 3. Lewis has been his usual self, faster to the puck than anyone else and blowing several breakaways, but just the fact that he has gotten in deep on the NYR defense has made a difference.

One of the most important benefits of the 4th line playing so well is that Sutter can ice them for more time, thereby giving our top two lines more rest to create something. We still haven't seen the top line do much in terms of scoring. They might have a big game tomorrow night (here is to hoping).

Carter is coming together also. This team just has so many weapons...

Yup sorta strange.

Kopitar hasn't scored a goal in Nine Games now. Hasn't really hurt the Kings.

Still making big plays though, like on the OT winner in Game 2.

Clifford's play has made Nolan redundant so I would guess that of those two, Clifford sticks, Nolan goes.

Williams is signed for another year and they can start talking extension this summer.

Greene I can't see coming back unless he took a massive home team discount. I think he's going to cash out on his one big shot at being a UFA and someone will overpay him, because that's how the free agent market works.

I've been particularly impressed with Clifford who, aside from his usual hard working tough-guy modus operandi, has contributed significantly to some important scoring plays. Cliffy is pretty much exactly what you want from a Bottom 6 forward: he is a tough, 110% effort player who generally makes smart plays, doesn't have the elite skills or put up stats that will inflate his salary, but who has good enough hands to make passes and put a few in the net.

Greene has been pretty good -- he has struggled a bit with the Rags speed, but his net-front presence has been exemplary. It's what I expect of him; it was his major important contribution to the 2012 team and it is definitely good to have him patrolling the front.

As for Williams, I am not even slightly surprised -- in fact I'm more surprised he is on this list, since he is a consistent contributor. Not necessarily on the scoreboard, but he is always doing the important things that don't necessarily get him recognized. You can pretty much be assured, though, that when the game is big he will step up. Clutchest clutcher to ever clutch a clutch.

Greene I don't see coming back...

Mitchell could come back if he signs for cheap... his play has been great... health over the last few years have made him a question mark. With Regehr already signed for next year not much money for a 5-6 D..

Clifford.... So ... Clifford/Lewis/Nolan/Vey/AndyAndy Will be fighting for the last few spots... add to that possibly O.Moller that's 6 players fighting for 2 4th line wing spots and healthy scratch spots... of course maybe Pearson starts the season in the AHL.

Don't think the cap will be much of an issues, but could be a reason Andy beats out Clifford.

With all thise injuries during this run I could see Kings giving new deals to both Green and Mitchell(1 year?it's a bit of risk to offer him longer term with his age and injuries;would he sign for just 1 year?maybe not, he didn't sign with Vancouver such deal, but now he is much older) and go with 8 Dmen next year(with McNabb).

All 3 vet Dmen had ups and downs during season but our depth was huge reason for coming this far.

The Kings are not going to carry 8 defenders on the roster, they want McNabb playing. McNabb is out of options.

One of Mitchell/Greene will no longer be a King next season. My bet is Mitchell, due to age.

Yeah, if they want McNabb playing Green is "easier" option to sit as HS then Mitchell(Martinez will not be HS ever again, I hope). Combine with his age and everything Mitchell could be gone.
Having mixed feelings about that, he was great in 2012 and good this year...maybe he retires and stucks with organization in some role

Williams is free agent in a few days…

Kopitar is so talented that even when he's not putting up the #s, he's still very solid defensively and playing 200ft. He'll make the pass or body a guy off of him. I don't want anyone else on the ice up 1 goal and defending the lead or down 1 goal and trying to tie the game up. Like Gretzky said, 3rd best player after Crosby and Toews. I agree.

Clifford has been so solid. He's been the most physical Kings player (in my eyes) throughout this series. The guy lays bodies every shift, I look forward to seeing his line now, whereas vs Chicago, I told myself "here we go again"

I was thinking the same about Nolan. I am a big big fan of his, but he needs to play. I can see him being dealt because of the logjam infront of him. A deal like him for Adam McQuaid of Boston would be good, especially if Greenie is signed by another team this summer.

Greene is such a mixed bag, I can't see DL wanting him back at his current hit, but I see Greene a lot like Penner who took a short discount to stay here after 2012. I could see Greene doing that and I can see the desire for him to stay on both sides. Again like Ziggy said, this may be his one shot to get a big UFA payday.
