The Kings are not going to carry 8 defenders on the roster, they want McNabb playing. McNabb is out of options.

One of Mitchell/Greene will no longer be a King next season. My bet is Mitchell, due to age.

Agree on McNabb, Dean was hot to get him in LA for a reason and my guess was to replace Greene. But he was also on the hunt at the trade deadline to upgrade at D, so I still think that there is a possibility that neither Mitchell or Greene will be back and that 6 M will be converted into a 4M D either thru trade or FA.

Clifford, I guess that depends on DL's feelings on the kids in Manchester and who might be ready to step up, provide the same energy and hustle but provide more offense? There seems to be some candidates that could work there .

Wouldn't shock me either.

Although Muzzin's play in the second half and in the playoffs has made that much less of a need as many of us thought.

But the Kings only have two D signed after this coming season, and there isn't really a blue chipper in the system or even anyone other than McNabb who projects to challenge for a spot next season (McNabb is a roster lock) so I think you are correct in thinking that they may go for a really solid third pairing defender in the $4 mill range.

I don't think Clifford or Mitchell will be the odd man out. I could see us possibly shipping Nolan out to Buffalo cuz his dad is the head coach there. Prob could get an okay draft pick for him prob between 4th round-7th round pick. Then i could see the Kings have Pearson, Toffoli, Vey and Andreoff up with the team. Vey and Andreoff will be those extra forwards. Greene is prob the odd man out. I can kinda see the Kings give Jeff Schultz other one year deal at his 700K, then if someone goes down McNabb/Bodnarchuk/Campbell will be those guys who they call up.

Schultz was solid for Kings, nothing spetacular but he should get some kind of NHL contract.
Agree about Nolan, he looks like odd man out...

If Schultz is willing to accept a similar role this season I'm all for bringing him back, he's not great by any means but filled in as an extra d-man admirably. Some NHL team should offer him a spot as a #6 though.

Mitchell or Greene (or both or neither) is a tough call though. I honestly don't know. Greene has shown hints of being his old self in these playoffs while Mitchell has a higher ceiling and is probably gonna be more consistent over a long stretch of time... Both have some injury concerns.. But Mitchell is six years older and could start slowing down considerably any time now. It's a really tough call.

Campbell is an UFA and will want a shot at an NHL contract, I doubt he resigns with the Kings.

Bods was dominant with Manchester, and never even got a cup of coffee, he is not in the Kings plans. Bods would have to overcome Forbort/Gravel/McNabb to have a shot.

Poor Bods...I feel for the guy.
