Anybody got any new metal for me to listen to?

And that's new metal, not nu metal, although I'm not excluding it if it happens to be nu metal.
You probably already listen to these bands but they're literally the only metal bands in my library lirl. Not sure if people who actually like metal really consider Deafheaven part of the genre, but the first one definitely is.

I'll give metal this much: they absolutely do not f*** around with album covers lmao.

These look cool, thanks!

BTW, favorite album cover:

A buddy of mine asked me the other day: "Who do you think is the better band, The Cars or Cheap Trick?"

I said it was a tough choice, but I'd have to ultimately go with Cheap Trick.

He looked at me like I had six heads and proceeded to explain how I was wrong, and how Elliot Easton is a way better guitar player than Rick Nielsen and how they basically laid the ground work for new wave yadda yadda etc.

So I'll ask here,

Who is the better band: The Cars or Cheap Trick?

The Cars. Cheap Trick never reached the heights of the first Cars album. Side Two remains perfect.

@Machinehead any chance to take a listen to the Malmsteen songs?
Yeah, good shit man!

It was really unique stuff. Like, when I see a "solo" sort of guitar act, (as far as I can tell, it's just him rotating help) I'm expecting constant shredding like a Buckethead or Petrucci's solo work, but Malmsteen's full arrangements are a lot deeper than I expected.

It also stood out to me that he works with really talented vocalists. I looked it up and one of the albums features Ripper Owens from Priest! Always happy to welcome Priest into my eardrums.

Glad you liked it. Yeah, Ripper is a great vocalist. I got to see him live in a club a couple of years ago. Consistently monstrous voice, played a lot of Priest stuff.

He recently put out an album called Enemies And Lovers, by the band A New Revenge. It's a pretty significant departure from his usual heavy / speed metal stuff he normally does.

Reactions: Machinehead
I'm American through and through, but this stuff (and the Irish equivalent) calls to my roots every time I hear it.

Also, for those who haven't been, Edinburgh is ABSOLUTELY worth the visit. And the highlands even better.

Anytime I'm feeling a bit anxious at work or at home, pop on this classic tune from the Counting Crows and I'm in my happy place again....
