Daaamn Gramps, and I thought my near-mint Screeching Weasel record from 1992 was cool. This was just buried in a box with useless shit in my dad's garage. It's the 1st US pressing too.

Transmission is probably my favorite Joy Division song, that **** always gets my blood going

That bass line

Speaking of bass lines IMO the GOAT

That opening riff just wedges itself into your brain and takes hours to dislodge. Or even decades; I borrowed my friend's bass while I was home one winter break, and I still remember how to play it lol.

Here's some bass for ya:

Peter Hook from New Order had a side project. Monaco.

"What Do You Want From Me"

Another New Order side project. New Order lead singer Bernard Sumner and Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr worked with the Pet Shop Boys on this classic.

"Getting Away With It"

I have been massively depressed because of the current football and hockey teams so I am listening to The Cure

Working through the Paul McCartney post-Beatles catalog.

Entering the latter half of the 1980s.

Definitely has the widest gap between stuff that's really good and the stuff that sounds like it was written by a teenager.

VH was one of my first real loves of rock way back in the day. So, yeah, I like most of them.

Devils ruined that one for me....

Billy Joel's 'A matter of trust' will always make me remember losing to the Caps in the playoffs in the late 80's.

Two perfect songs IMO

Screeching Weasel, wow. Haven't heard that name in a minute! I had one of the t-shirts with that obnoxious weasel on it, this was like 15 years after their most popular records came out and I'm not sure anybody else in my high school knew who they were

For anyone that likes trancy techno type stuff, this guy from Germany is pretty cool. It's a long video and best used when focusing on something for a while, or just hanging out. I like it when playing games, or driving a long distance.

Dude so awesome. The back of the LP jacket is the band jumping in the air in a bowling alley...completely naked. I listened to My Brains Hurts probably 10,000 times in highschool. It's a legit good album.

In a Tom Waits kinda move this morning. Threw some one while making my daughter breakfast. She looked confused by him and said he sounds like a angry muppet.

Finished Paul McCartney --- particularly liked Flaming Pie and Egypt Station from his latter work.

Moving on to Aerosmith.

Though I did take a break to procrastinate on work. Spent 10 minutes on YouTube listening/watching Dr. Teeth and The Electric Mayhem.

Felt, string, and no CGI. Still better than most of the music (and TV shows) out there today.

Aurora Borealis, shining down in Dallas, can you picture that?

Very hit and miss.

I saw him in Giants stadium from the floor in 1990. Great show but some of those new songs were ehhhhh

“Give me your Hand” etc

But the tribute to John made me cry and anytime you’re 18 at a concert half drunk and high seeing a f***ing Beatle and fireworks go off for Live and Let Die... you kinda lose your shit.

I feel like he kind of got back on track with Flaming Pie in 1997. But yeah, there was a stretch from the mid-80s until 1993 that was forgettable.
